Finished my Milky Way photo over Roseman Bridge. The composition could be a bit better and I might tweak it a bit but for my first composition pic this turned out nice.

Didn’t bring my tripod or Astro lens but I got decent Milky Way pics from the front porch of my cabin.

Edited Milky Way image. I'm working to get more color from the core but this turned out nice. I'm finding out my lens isn't the best for astro work due to bad corner distortion so I end up cropping a lot out. The light pollution filter works pretty good at cutting city lights.

Well, my eclipse pics did not turn out as I expected. It looks like the focus was just slightly off so the images range from slightly soft to not usable. I managed to get a few good ones with some editing. When you have less than 2 minutes to get the images you want it's easy to miss something. Oh well, I had an unforgettable experience that the kids will definitely remember.

Possibly more aurora activity coming up!

Geomagnetic activity could make the aurora visible in parts of Michigan, Maine, New York, Wisconsin and Washington state on Wednesday. The lights may also be seen in Alaska and parts of Canada.

Finally got to see the northern lights after about 20 years. I headed up to Jester Park, saw where a bunch of other people were set up, and got to work. I was the only one not hanging out in their car. My experience paid off with some very nice aurora pics. Edited images to follow.
