Four images from Ireland last August. This country is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to photograph and leading workshop groups here with my friend Bernard Geraghty Landscape Tours has been a blast. Highlight of this trip for me was Torrey Island, but there is so much beauty on the rugged coastlines here that I will never get enough. Hope you enjoy these. Thanks for looking.

Back in May last year I got to spend a few days in Venice while planning future photography workshops. It’s a marvelous city and so delightfully photogenic at night. The gondolas and canals are such a great subject and this scene from the Grand Canal is a classic. I couldn’t have timed this one any better with these boats lined up to retire for the night. Another favorite from 2025.

Another of my favorite photos from 2025. It had been a few years since I photographed this famous tree in the Portland Japanese Garden. Living here and being in town during the time of peak color I decided to head over there on a morning where fog was in the forecast. I spent several hours in the garden that morning, shooting in the soft mist. And when that fog burned off I took another turn at this tree just as the sun was breaking through. When I got underneath the canopy the light was so dynamic bringing so much energy to the scene that I knew I had my best image of the day. Enjoy.

This week I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite images from 2025. It was a memorable year photographing with friends and clients. I’ll start it out with an image of the iconic super tusker Craig who just passed away a few days ago. The oldest and biggest tusker in the Amboseli region he was a true legend and a gentle giant who thankfully died of natural causes at 54 years old. I photographed him last March and the experience is extra special as my father was by my side.

Last week I made the long drive down to the southern Oregon Coast for one sunset before the weather turned terrible. And this is what I was able to capture that evening.

Happy Festivus Everyone!

A final set of shots from Caddo Lake and the big cypress bayou this year. This is just a small sample of what can be created here. Next year my company Destination Earth Photo Tours will be leading two photography workshops here once again in November for fall colors and misty mornings in the swamps.

These workshops are entirely by kayak and include all food (delicious cajun dishes from a local chef) and all lodging in three beautiful lakeside homes. Simply put nobody else offers a workshop like this in the bayou! Our first group Nov 4-8 has a few spaces available and our second group Nov 9-13 is already Sold Out.

If you’d like to join us and photograph this hauntingly beautiful place then please see below for all the details and shoot us a message with any questions.

Keeping the images rolling out from the Texas swamps this year. Needless to say the fog gods were good to us. This scene felt straight out of the land of Yoda as somebody also observed on my last post. Thanks for all the support and kind words on my images this week. Cheers

Another recent image from the bayou. This particular morning was one of the most special ones that I've had in recent years down here. The fog was thick and lasted for hours and everything was still and silent. The mist in the air saturated everything making the colors on the trees pop and trees stand out from the background. I loved this composition so much that I tucked myself in by another tree and put my tripod in the water against my kayak to take the shot. Everything about this image, from the cypress knees to the dangling Spanish moss to the yellow leaves and misty background, it all encapsulates the bayou and blackwater swamps in the fall so perfectly to me. I hope that you all enjoy this one as much as I do.

Settings: 90mm, ISO 100, f/16, 1/4 second. Shot with Hasselblad X2D II 100C + XCD 90v lens

Fresh new work from the bayou. The haunting beauty here keeps pulling me back year after year. The colors and fog this time around made for some magical mornings.
