The first birthday is such a fun milestone to photograph because every baby gives me a completely different session. 🎂
Some babies immediately dig into the cake, some inspect it very carefully, and some decide the cake is absolutely not for them. 😂 Either way, those reactions become part of the memories.
My Cake Smash sessions take place in my West Windsor studio and usually begin with birthday portraits before we move into the actual cake smash. That gives parents a nice variety of images from this stage instead of only cake-covered pictures.

One of my favorite things about adding a photo booth to an event is watching how many different generations end up using it. 🤍
The kids may start it, then the parents jump in, the grandparents join them, and before long everyone is coming back for another photo.

So much planning goes into a quinceañera — and many of the details are there for only a few hours.
The flowers, tables, cake, dress, décor, and carefully chosen setup deserve to be photographed before the celebration gets busy. But those details are only one part of the story.
I also look for the family hugs, portraits with grandparents, friends together, speeches, dancing, and all the candid moments happening in between.
Years from now, I want the gallery to bring back the feeling of the entire celebration, not just show what the room looked like.

One of the biggest things parents worry about before family photos is: “What if my kids don’t cooperate?”
You really don’t need perfectly behaved children to create beautiful family photographs.
I guide families through the session, but I also leave room for kids to move, laugh, cuddle, explore, and simply be themselves. We’ll capture the traditional family portraits, but often the little in-between moments become just as meaningful.
If someone needs a break, we take one. If your child has lots of energy, we work with it. The goal is not perfection — it’s photographs that actually feel like your family.
