โผ๏ธ๐ท A NOTE ABOUT AI & SHARING CHILDRENโS PHOTOS
Iโve seen a LOT of conversation lately in the photography community about photographers no longer sharing images of babies and children because of concerns about AI being used to manipulate innocent photographs into sexual content.
Let me be clear: the exploitation of children is disgusting, and the misuse of AI to harm children should be taken extremely seriously.
We absolutely need stronger protections, accountability, and consequences for the people creating and distributing this material.
But photographers creating and sharing innocent images of childrenโwith their parentsโ permissionโare not the people committing these crimes.
And personally, I donโt believe the answer is to stop celebrating childhood, stop displaying beautiful photography, or allow the actions of criminals to dictate everything we create and share.
That said, I donโt believe there is one โrightโ decision for every photographer or every family.
For my business, the decision ultimately belongs to the parents.
If you give me permission to share your childโs images, I will continue to proudly showcase them.
If you prefer that your childโs images remain completely private, they will remain private. No explanation needed. No pressure. No exceptions.
Your child. Your choice. Always. โค๏ธ
I also encourage everyone to be careful with some of the legal information currently circulating on social media. AI laws and regulations are evolving quickly, and a viral post isnโt necessarily an accurate explanation of what the law actually says.
What isnโt complicated is this:
Children deserve protection.
Parents deserve informed choices.
Photographers should respect those choices.
I will continue creating beautiful, innocent photographs of childhood while respecting the privacy and wishes of every family who trusts me with their memories. โค๏ธ
