Reminiscing on this intimate city hall wedding between S + E last summer 🕊️

I loveeeee an intimate city hall wedding where the simple act of signing paperwork is filled with giddiness and excitement. I don’t photograph many weddings, but I will never say no to a city hall ceremony—especially one with a stone bridge, a marble staircase, and two people as deeply in love as S+E 😍

I look forward to annual photoshoots with the same families year after year because I get to see how much the kids have grown and how their unique personalities have blossomed. This shoot with my cousin’s family is always special because we take the photos in my favorite place on earth, the lake. Can’t wait to compare the last few years photos see how much they’ve grown!

Happy belated first anniversary to these two adorable souls. 🕊️ Their wedding was my first big shoot back after having my daughter and I was a bit nervous I’d be rusty. But J + M were so full of joy and love that the day flew by in a wave of excitement and celebration with their families and closest friends.

Small, backyard weddings are my favorite events to photograph because they’re honest and raw and intimate. I always feel blessed to be a part of those special private moments—and I totally cry during the heartfelt speeches. every. single. time. 🥹

I’m finally getting better at posting my work and I’ve got a lot of shots that I’ve never shared from the last year! Prepare to see more: more color, more joy, more love 🌈

A few recent shots from my fine art work: documenting unscripted childhood moments of my daughter, nieces, and nephews at our family’s lake house. This body of work focuses on child consent in family photography and how underage subjects’ identities can be protected, honored, and/or exploited on public platforms. I love to use blocking, framing, and angles to hide the kids’ faces, while still capturing their adventures and joy in a place brimming with family history.

I’m looking forward to taking more photos when we all congregate together again in August 📸

✨ Did you know that I started my undergraduate college’s Instagram account and ran it for the first 1.5 years? It was cringy in the way that all early Instagram posts were cringy, but I’m still proud 😅 Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts

✨ Did you know I took headshots of renowned faculty at the Harvard Graduate School of Education when I worked in Professional Education? So fun getting 1on1 time with such amazing educators 📚 Professional Education at HGSE

✨ Did you know the first time I ever did product photography, I was working at a small public relations company and took a client’s sandals to London with me to do product photos across the pond? Those same sandals save my feet after 14 hour weddings/events 🩴 OOFOS® Recovery Footwear

I’ve had some amazing opportunities over the years and am very grateful for how these experiences helped me build to where I am today. All of these instances started with, “I’ve never done that, but I can try.” It’s still my moto today as I keep learning and growing.

[No, you’re not seeing double. I’m reposting these maternity pics because they went through some additional edits for color correction. You ever wake up in the middle of the night realizing something just feels /off/? That was me with these sunset pics. They should be GLOWING on my screen (and they do from my laptop) but the mobile versions left me feeling flat. And since we spend so much of our time on our phones, it felt important that I get these right. Thankfully social media is always changing, giving us space to learn and improve our craft. Now these photos accurately reflect the warmth of the sun, the green of the field, and blue of E’s gorgeous eyes 💛💚🩵 during this dreamy maternity/family shoot.]
