You watched yourself back and cringed. That's not information.

You're comparing the recording to the version of you inside your own head — the one with all your intentions attached and an internal voice that sounds nothing like the recorded one.
Nobody wins that comparison. It's rigged.

Your clients have never had the internal version. They just see someone explaining something clearly.

Nobody is waiting for your best work.

You've had that big polished video on the to-do list for two years. The one that finally explains everything properly.

Even if you made it, it probably wouldn't be the one that works.

What buyers want is the ordinary Tuesday version of you answering a normal question in plain language. Polish reads as marketing. Typical reads as true.

The best thing you said last month was heard by exactly one person.

A client asked a hard question and you nailed the answer. Clear, honest, completely convincing. You could feel the room change.

Then the call ended and it was gone.

You'll give that same answer four or five more times this year, live, to one person at a time. Film it once and it works while you sleep.

Half the people watching your video have the sound off.

They're in an open office. A waiting room. In bed at midnight. Sound-off is normal now, not unusual.

No captions means they get nothing — just a face moving silently past their thumb.

Burn the captions in. Same video, same script, except now it actually reaches people.

The numbers get you from thirty options to three. Then you get in and drive one, and the decision happens in about four minutes, mostly on feel.

Your website is the spec sheet. Years in business, services, team page. All necessary, none of it does what the test drive does.

Buyers want to know what it's like to sit across from you when something's gone wrong. No paragraph answers that.

“We'll start video after the new website.”

After the rebrand. After busy season. After we nail down the messaging.

Every item on that list sounds responsible. That's exactly why it lasts for years.

Meanwhile the version of you online is a photo from a while back — and that's what a prospect meets tonight, not the site launching in Q2.

The website catches up to the video. It usually has to.

Unpopular opinion: your video should be repelling people.

If everyone who watches wants to talk to you, it's too vague. It's been sanded down until there's nothing to disagree with — and nothing to decide on.

Say who you're not for. Say roughly what you cost. Say what you turn down.

You'll lose calls that were never going to close anyway. The ones left arrive already sold.

Someone Googled your name at 11 last night.

They'd just gotten your name from a friend. Warm referral, the good kind. So they did what everyone does — looked you up alone, on their phone, before calling.

They found a headshot and a services page. Nothing to watch. Nothing that sounded like you.
They closed the tab and called the other name on the list.

You'll never know it happened. That's what makes it so expensive.

Your prospects are skipping your best video because they think they've already seen it.

Not the content — they never got that far. The frame.

Here's how it happens, and it happens to the firms doing this properly.

You batch film. Sensible decision: one afternoon, one setup, twelve videos, done for the quarter. Efficient, professional, exactly what everyone tells you to do.

Which means twelve videos that open on the same chair, the same shirt, the same angle, the same slice of wall behind your left shoulder.

In a feed, that reads as a repost.
Somebody who watched episode four scrolls past episode nine without ever registering that it's a different video — their brain filed it under seen, and the brain is very fast and not very careful.

The fix costs no extra production time, only a little planning.
Change one visible thing per video. Stand for some, sit for others. Move to a different room after every three. Swap the jacket. Shoot a few outside.

Same day, same crew, same efficiency. Twelve videos that don't look like each other.

Go open your channel and look at the grid, not the titles. How many of those thumbnails could you tell apart at a glance?

Your Energy Falls Off a Cliff at Second Ten

You nail the opening. Big energy, good line, they stay.

Then around second ten, you settle.

Voice drops. Pace slows. You sound like you’re reading a bank statement.

That’s where they go.

Energy isn’t a starting gun — it’s a level you hold. Record your first minute back and find the exact second you let go.
