March 2009 - Snow-capped mountains playing peek-a-boo through the new growth from one of Montana's most famous fires. My Dad helped with the efforts of fighting it. One firefighter was killed and 20 others injured in the effort to save Polebridge and the surrounding isolated homesteads, landmarks, and NPS Buildings.

Northern Lights over Glacier Park

I'm back :) If you saw my last post last month, the good news is that I'm able to start posting photos again. Thankfully as I'm already really behind and still in 2009. But I really wanted to redo this new page like the old page. And I think nature photos are more important then ever, as this country is so divided and stressed lately.

Just when I was ready to start using this page full-time again...

Talk about insult to injury... Literally. This is half giving a photography update and half venting I guess, although I'm pretty weak right now and barely have even enough for that. And a storm post. This has been a very challenging year. Especially the second half of this year things got pretty scary with my health after I got sick in July. And it got especially critical last month. Well I had a medical episode last night, actually nothing major, especially with what I've already gone through, but still incapacitating even today. Well as many of you know we are being hit with a prolonged big storm here in Northwest Montana, and for all of you following from out of state, we rarely if even ever get hit with winds this high! I don't remember these wind speeds ever being recorded here except for a few microbursts over the last decades maybe. Well something really big just hit me here, I think it was a major surge, and it appears to have fried my computer! The one I've been using for the last 13 years and even by today's standards it was very fast. But yeah this has never happened to me before! I was in the middle of something really big still. Mostly trying to organize things. At this point I'm still not even sure what I've lost, but it couldn't happen at a worse time. I was in a critical spot. I of course had backups of a majority of my photos on extra hard drives, but I know for sure there was still quite a bit I hadn't had a chance to back up yet. Especially some critical stuff! That's what I'm most bummed about. Stuff I spent years on. After I recover from this hopefully short-lived medical episode... then I can find out just how bad it is. And I know things could be so much worse! So I'm thankful I didn't lose everything and I mean literally everything dating back to 2005, but still it's hard to potentially lose years worth of work .. well I'm really fading so thank you so much for listening to this. This storm is quite something! I just really hope I can recover some stuff. Thank you so much again for following me on this wild journey.

Big news regarding Glacier National Park! Early this morning several changes were announced. One of the bigger ones is GNP is doing away with the Tickets / Timed Vehicle Entry System! And there are several other actually probably just as big changes, some still in progress. Thank you to the Daily Inter Lake for breaking the news at midnight tonight in print and on their website. That's all I'll say, as I really respect reporters and journalism and all the hard work they do, so if you want details you can check the paper out, or go to their website ( I checked and it's already on there ). Since I'm a night owl, it appears I'm one of the earliest to find out, as currently no other news source is reporting on this. One of many reasons why I especially appreciate local newspapers! It'll be interesting to see how it goes next year. It's nice to be able to make a post again. I'm finally going to start posting photos again, so stay tuned.
