Still catching up on sharing sessions from Memorial Day weekend!

This Whitefish morning was absolutely epic. We started at the lake with calm water, mountain views, and one of those picture-perfect blue sky days Montana does so well. Then we headed to one of my favorite fields in town for a completely different adventure.

One of my favorite things about this session was seeing a family that still makes spending time together a priority. Between the laughs, the cowboy hats, and the incredible scenery, it was such a fun morning to photograph.

Whitefish really showed off for this one. ☀️

Talk about an EPIC surprise. 💍🏔️

Emily thought she was heading out for a Memorial Day weekend camping trip with friends.

Instead, Dan woke her up at 4:00 in the morning and said, "Pack your bags. We're going to Montana."

What she didn't know was that he had spent weeks planning a surprise proposal in Glacier National Park.

Over the weeks leading up to the trip, Dan and I talked through locations and different proposal ideas. He knew he wanted mountain views, water, and a spot that truly felt like Montana. With Going-to-the-Sun Road still closed, we narrowed down the options and landed on Apgar Village overlooking beautiful Lake McDonald.

It ended up being exactly what he had hoped for.

On a surprisingly quiet Saturday morning, the two wandered out onto the dock, taking in the views and snapping a few photos together.

Then Dan asked Emily to turn around so he could take a photo of her.

Instead, he got down on one knee.

When Emily turned around, she simply stopped and smiled as she took it all in. The look on her face was priceless. It was such a sweet moment and perfectly fit her personality.

After lots of hugs and celebrating, we spent the next hour exploring around Lake McDonald, the rocky shoreline, and Belton Bridge for engagement photos.

Dan put so much thought into every part of this day, and it was amazing watching it all come together.

I have photographed a LOT of proposals over the years, but I have NEVER seen a reaction quite like Maya’s. 😂💍

Lucas planned the perfect surprise proposal at Lone Pine State Park overlooking the Flathead Valley. While Maya thought they were simply finishing up a hike together, both families were hidden nearby waiting for the big moment.

When got down on one knee, absolutely exploded with excitement. She jumped, laughed, hugged Lucas, jumped some more, and honestly turned into Tigger with a diamond ring. It was one of the most fun proposal reactions I’ve ever photographed!

Afterward, we spent the next hour taking engagement photos, their sweet pup joined us for a few, and everyone headed back to Whitefish to continue celebrating.

And their story is just as good as the proposal.

The two first met at Wag Park in Whitefish. Later that day, Lucas pulled into his driveway and spotted Maya nearby picking berries.

“I promise I’m not following you... this is where I live.”

Her response?

“What?! I live next door!”

The rest is history. ❤️

Henry planned a surprise proposal for Rileigh The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, and Montana decided to add a little extra drama to the evening.

There were storm clouds rolling across Whitefish Lake, gusty winds, a few sprinkles of rain, and even some lightning in the distance. While it wasn't the typical calm spring evening, it made for an unforgettable backdrop.

Henry and Rileigh had dinner reservations at The Boat Club, but first they headed down to the docks to enjoy the view and have a drink by the lake. What Rileigh didn't know was that Henry had a ring in his pocket and a proposal planned.

Spring is usually a quieter time around Whitefish Lake, and the weather made the docks even quieter. The only people out there were a couple fishing nearby and me pretending to be a tourist while waiting for the big moment.

When Rileigh turned around for a photo overlooking the lake, Henry got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

She said YES! 💍

Afterward, we explored The Lodge at Whitefish Lake for engagement photos, took advantage of the incredible skies, and even ended the evening with a canoe ride that was just a little more adventurous than expected.

Still not over this Glacier National Park proposal ❤️

From sunshine to rain to snow and back again, Montana gave us a little bit of everything for this unforgettable evening at Belton Stage Park.

These two were so easy to photograph because they were completely themselves through every part of the experience — calm, thoughtful, adventurous, and so obviously in love ✨

I knew this proposal was going to be special long before it actually happened ❤️

We spent months planning every detail of this Glacier National Park proposal, and when the day finally arrived, Montana gave us a little bit of everything — sunshine, rain, wind, snow, dramatic skies, and somehow the most perfect atmosphere for these two.

But honestly, what stood out most to me wasn’t just the incredible scenery or emotional proposal moment. It was how thoughtful and kind they were through the entire experience. When they first walked up to the setup, her immediate concern was that she didn’t want to interrupt the woman nearby quietly reading her book… which was me undercover trying to blend in 😂

Just two genuinely wonderful humans, completely present with each other through every moment of this unforgettable day.

Honestly, I love proposals.

The planning, the secrecy, the nerves, the surprise… all of it.

My inbox has been full of proposal planning lately and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Between Glacier National Park, Lone Pine, Whitefish Lake, and The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, I’m helping plan so many incredible surprise proposals this month — and every single one is completely different. 💍

This The Lodge at Whitefish Lake proposal is such a good reminder of why I love photographing these moments so much. The anticipation, the excitement, the emotion when it finally happens… it honestly never gets old.

Planning a winter proposal in Glacier National Park? ❄️

Lake McDonald and Apgar Village can feel completely magical in the snow — quiet, peaceful, and unbelievably beautiful. Forrest led Colby to the end of the dock for “one more photo”… and then dropped to one knee with the snowy mountains behind them.

Winter proposals in Glacier take a little extra planning — weather, light, timing — but when it all comes together, it’s unforgettable.
