Some days I miss Kansas. 🌻

The steady 4 seasons,

family,

clients that know me and my work well, ❤️

And the familiarity that comes with a hometown.

But, I feel purpose here in Dallas.

There are families still to meet and love on,

lives to capture and relationships to cultivate.

Photography was never about a job.

It has always been about reminding families how beautiful they are. 😍

It’s about documenting how children look at their parents with big smiles and deep love,
and how lively yet sentimental each moment is.

The laughter, the tears, the spontaneous, and all the feels

-I’m here for it! ✨

As soon as I entered into the Yu’s house I felt at home. 🏡😍

I documented them playing video games, baking bread, playing bored games, and soccer.

It seems so simple.

But it’s so much more than that.

I got to captured the love that they share together. 🥹❤️

Mike and Judy’s voice overs were beyond heart felt! ❤️

They also waited to hear what each other wrote until I finished their film. 🤯

It’s crazy because they complimented what each other said do well.

I cried making this video many times. 😭💕

I’m so thankful I got to celebrate this family.

Because family should be celebrated!

Yes, family is wild, it’s hard, and it can make you crazy at some points.

But it is eternal, important, and the best thing God could have ever given us.

Family is holy. 🏡✨

And these kids will always be able to look back at this film and remember,

They are dearly loved. ❤️

Which is also holy. ✨

I sometimes wonder how many times I have rocked one of my children to sleep.

Late in the night.

Early in the morning.

Middle of the day.

Sometimes all night long.

I would sleep in that chair.

There were times I wondered if I would ever escape that place.

Those were the days of tired.

You never knew when you would actually be able to fully rest.

The days were so slow, but the mornings came too soon.

Now as years have passed and that chair has seen less and less days of me in it.

I wonder if my youngest will ever fall asleep with me rocking her again.

There will be a last moment in every season.

But, you will never know when the last time is the last time.

You will only know when it’s gone.

And when it’s gone,

You will want it all back.

All of it. 🥹

One of my favorite ways to tell stories is through short films. 🎥 ❤️

I film families doing things they love to do at home. 🏡

Before the shoot I ask the parents to write a voice over. 🗣️✨💕

This could be a personal letter to the family. Or speaking life giving words over each kid. 💕

I then create a film out of it.

Some of these sessions include documentary style pictures I take throughout the day. ☀️

I am releasing the film of this sweet family this week. ❤️🥹
