It was my partner’s birthday over the weekend and wanted to try something new. I had been meaning to check out SaSara and Tedros Ethiopian Restaurantbut never found the time. Well dust me off and call me John Cena, cause the time was now. Went in blind because I was not familiar with Ethiopian food. The aromas from the plate were intoxicating, I knew I was in for a treat. After the first bite I was instantly in love. The different textures and spices had my full attention. All the veggies were full of flavor and the meat was tender. As far as spice levels went it was a tad on the spicy side, but nothing I couldn’t handle. I surely hope Wichita keeps adding place like this to the rotation, and that people are willing to step out of their comfort zones and experience something new.

My partner and I had a little diy date night! We made lobster ravioli from scratch with a homemade tomato sauce. The process was a little time consuming but was well worth it. We worked as a team to measure, mix, stir, and knead our way to a wonderful meal. Also now having the skill to pull out fresh pasta is totally gonna be a game changer! Such a fun activity!

For dinner tonight I made a salmon rice bowl. Added fresh cucumbers, soy sauce, garlic chili sauce, dried seaweed and can’t forget a runny egg.

Last night I got a text from my coworker telling me not to bring lunch today cause she made me something. She made me homemade fried rice! Chock full of veggies, eggs, spam and plenty of flavor. I could taste the love and care she put into the dish and I felt honored that she made it for me. Food creates lasting friendships with people who you never would have known, isn’t life grand.

Wichita is down to only one place for dim sum. Pho Le’s scratched that itch I was having, but I really do hope more spots open up in the future.

Adding to my rotation of places I like to go has been a great move. The neighborhood feel and atmosphere has been well welcomed by me and I look forward to visiting them even more!

Did you know Wichita has had a dim sum hidden gem right under our noses this whole time?

This past weekend, we celebrated a friend’s birthday with dim sum brunch at **Tom’s Lotus Garden** and absolutely went in. Dish after dish hit the table, and we ate *well*. Every bite was packed with flavor and made me wish I had discovered this spot sooner.

I was heartbroken to learn their last day will be March 15. I hate that I didn’t get more time there, but I’ll remember those flavors for a long time.

Let’s show them some love and give them one last push of business before they close their doors.

Dinner AND a show — and all I had to do was walk from my hotel. 🔥
I’ve been coming back and forth to Salina for months and somehow never stopped at Daimaru… even though it’s literally a quick walk away. That changed tonight.
Front-row seat to the grill, a chef who brought the energy, and plates loaded with flavor (and real portions 👀).
If you’re in Salina, stop sleeping on this spot like I did. Highly recommend.
