Thanks Maggie for taking this shot of me taking pictures! I rarely am in the pictures, so it's fun to have images like this. Also, I can't go without posting the outtake alongside the final image--- these little things that happen in between the "real" shots (personality oozes out of these kids!) are why I love photographing them. Some of my favorite images ever taken come from this family who I've photographed for the last four years!

One of my favorite weddings to date. Caleb and Shiloh, May 25, 2019.

I took the portraits of 78 seniors last Friday, back-to-back. (After that, I photographed each of them as they got their diploma.) I helped several of the girls (and a few guys!) with their cap and their hair, assuring them they looked great. I surprised myself with this thought, but strangely, the adjustments of their caps, and working to give them confidence before having their photo taken was equally fulfilling for me as photographing them. Maybe it's the mom in me, but I just couldn't help but be so proud! Congrats to all 2019 seniors! Kansas Connections Academy

My sentiments are still the same. Happy Mother’s Day! 🖤

Happy Mother's Day! To moms raising their kids, moms who have already raised their kids, moms with kids in heaven, and moms-to-be: you are wonderful! Abraham Lincoln said, "The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world." How true! Moms have so much influence. Keep up the good work, ladies. And to the women who have lost their moms, or women who wish to be a mom but are not, keep your head up. Stories are not over until they are over.

Little one turned EIGHT last Thursday.

She’s allowed 15 minutes each day on my phone to play games. The rule is for her to set her own timer, and give my phone back to me when the timer goes off. Today, she had the phone longer than what felt like 15 minutes to me. I called her to me and asked if the timer had gone off yet. She smiled “innocently,” almost wanting to laugh. She knew she had gone over on her time. I told her I needed to trust her to manage herself, and I didn’t find it funny that she was playing longer than she was allowed. I then asked her why she was smiling. She replied, “I just really like looking at my sweet mom.”

🙄 🤤 🤨 😇 HOW DO I EVEN?!?!

Photos to document her turning 8, and one of her and I on the evening of her birthday.

Remember last fall when I posted the picture of me taking photos with my TLR (twin-lens reflex/film) camera? The bride and groom were on the other side...

Also, a gentleman in the choir loft at a wedding, who was just the cutest and sweetest to happily let me photograph him. (quite a treat to see the picture when getting the film scans back...I had forgotten that I took the image.)

And finally, Savana and Dalton, a brother and sister who I passed the camera off to at a family photo shoot to photograph each other. They did good!

I posted this a couple years ago, but I thought it could benefit to be posted again. There can always be room for more positivity and uplifting one another! Leave a kind word here, or, take a minute and text someone to let them know you are thinking of them. I’m positive the one on the receiving end will smile!
