It’s almost been twenty years since Stephen and I said “I do” at the same age as this sweet couple. I remember feeling so grown up at the time, but our growing days were only just beginning!
Over the years I have praised God for creating the perfect person for me, a man with endless patience and a love for Jesus that surpasses all. I see God’s wisdom in the timing that allowed Stephen and I to grow up together during the years when we were still working out who we wanted to be.
We were blessed with families that cocoooned us in love and support as we ventured out into life together. They gave advice gently, watched patiently ane prayerfully while we made choices they would not have made, and forgave us (mostly me) as we learned how to love well in return.
This past weekend, Ella and Trent committed to living their lives together with the Lord at the helm of their relationship. I see in them that same providential pairing that God gave me and Stephen. Like two puzzle pieces with all their unique edges, fitting together just perfectly.
I pray that as they grow into the couple God wants them to be, they will trust in the Lord and be cocooned in the love and support of a gracious community.
