Wilmington Works Like a Dog 🐾

Meet Sara, owner of River’s Edge Art Supplies , and her dogs Kocka and Aine!

Sara launched River’s Edge in 2025 after recognizing a need for a dedicated art supply store in Wilmington. As an artist herself, she wanted to create more than just a place to buy supplies. Her vision is for River’s Edge to become a creative hub where artists of all skill levels can connect, learn, and grow together.

In the coming months, the store plans to offer classes and workshops, along with creative meetups designed to bring Wilmington’s art community together. If you’re interested in what’s coming next, Sara recommends joining the River’s Edge newsletter and following them on their socials to stay in the loop as new opportunities are announced later this summer!

River’s Edge is also hosting a community reception on the 27th from 5–8 PM. Whether you’re an artist, hobbyist, or simply curious about the new space, you’re invited to stop by!

Wilmington Works Like a Dog 🐾

Meet Kayla, co-founder of Furever Together Pet Care, and one of her many sidekicks, Daphne.

Kayla and her team have created a business around a simple idea: our pets are family, and they deserve to be part of life’s biggest moments. Through Furever Together Pet Care, they help couples include their pets in their weddings while taking the responsibility off friends and family. From transportation and supervision to coordinating with planners, venues, and photographers, they make sure pets are safe, comfortable, and exactly where they need to be throughout the day.

When we met up, it was easy to see just how much animals influence every part of Kayla’s life. Daphne joined us for photos, but she’s just one member of a household filled with cats, reptiles, fish, and plenty of personality. As you’ll see in the slides, each of them has their own story and has played a role in shaping the person and business Kayla has built.

I recently joined a biweekly photography challenge series through .ed, and the first prompt was color 🌈

After spotting this mural by I had to stop and photograph Isla in front of it. I love how it turned out!

Can’t wait to share more from the upcoming challenges every two weeks!

Surfdog is BACK! I’m so excited to be out photographing the coolest dogs and helping raise money for local rescues tomorrow at 🌊🤙

The event will be held out at Carolina Beach Pier from 9:30am-12:30pm. Even if your pup prefers land, it’s a great event to go and watch!!

Wilmington Works Like a Dog 🐾

This week’s feature looks a little different. Meet the team behind : Melissa, Charity, Morgan, and of course, Gracie, Ru, Porter, and Mulligan.

What started as a real estate business has grown into something deeply tied to community, rescue work, and connection. Melissa shared the story of losing her three dogs, Harpo, Abby, and Izzy, to blue-green algae toxicity in 2019, and how Gracie and Ru helped her find her footing again during one of the hardest times in her life. That experience eventually led to Harpo’s Legacy Sponsorship Program, where every home sold helps save a shelter dog in Harpo’s memory.

Beyond real estate, the team hosts workshops, community events, and local partnerships throughout the year, while also giving back to causes across Wilmington. Last year alone, they donated more than $20,000 to dog rescues, senior citizens, and families facing food insecurity.

My girl 🤍💜

It’s been three months since Isla’s health scare and I am so happy to say that her blood tests have been coming back with positive results and her personality really came back last week!!

When I tell my clients “I get it”, I really do. I love this girl so much and seeing her happy in these photos means the world to me. I’m so grateful that I get to keep annoying her with my love.

Also how gorgeous are these flowers at 🪻These lakespurs will only bloom for a couple more weeks, but I’m hoping to do something special at the farm this summer!

I’m gearing up for vacation, but if photos like this would mean the world to you, too, reach out and I’ll make it happen!

Wilmington Works Like a Dog 🐾

Meet Shawn, owner of , and his dog Opie.

If you’ve been to the gym, there’s a good chance you’ve met Opie. He’s usually around, bringing his energy into the space and making people feel right at home.

Shawn shared that what he loves most about his work is helping people build functional strength they can use in their everyday lives. It’s a hands-on environment, and having Opie there has become part of the experience for a lot of members.
