The Sentimental Journey Dream Ride!
From the countdown and rumbling engine start, the in-flight soaring peace with the rattling and humming to the squeaky wheel landing, I could not stop smiling with joy! What a way to cap off 3 weeks spent with on their east coast tour stops. There must have been a bit of ghostly dust in my eyes because they were interestingly damp as we gracefully lifted into the blue sky. The blue haze of the Appalachian mountains painted the horizon line and perfect white clouds dotted the Heavens. For years I dreamed of this moment. The amazing people I have been around, the incredible photos I was took and the hard working experiences I had completely filled my heart with joy and lifted me into yet another successful path. I cannot wait for more!
Enjoy the sounds of an old girl powerfully singing her own rendition of a Sentimental Journey!

When The Queen roars overhead, I promise your heart will melt. To say I love this plane is an understatement. She is art, she is majestic, her brakes squeal as she rumbles past and those four Wright R-1820 radial engines deeply hum as she lifts into the sky with a certain grace like none other. I have a plethora of photos and videos I happily worked hard to get. From under the stars in the wee hours, the golden rays of the sunrise to the pastel hues of the sunset and each intricate moment in between on the ground and in the sky, be prepared to fall in love!
These photos were made possible by the kind staff at the Hanover County airport in Ashland, VA. Without their help, I wouldn't have been able to get in position to take them. Enjoy the video taken by one of their staff members of this moment. This never gets old as I get to spend this week working hard once again for the brief honor of being in her presence!

"PUMP"
It has been an honor to take some of my best aviation photos of Pump this past year as he flew into Wilmington often. I truly looked forward to finally meeting him at the Sundown this past week. He made Harrier photos exciting for us and was just an all around professional!

Thanks PUMP for being a gracious and badass pilot. I think I can speak for all of us, we will miss you and your crew here at ILM. Best of luck as you move onto the next chapter.

Harrier Sundown June 3rd, 2026.
Truly an honor to see this aircraft one final time. I will miss seeing these planes in Wilmington and chasing them through the fields for that perfect photo. Nothing will replace this one-of-a-kind jet, and I am grateful to have experienced a tiny fraction of her lifespan in exceptional fashion!....

"Simply gorgeous as she sat quietly in the sun. Her mission to soar over land and sea was complete. Not sure how to feel, but I wish I could go back and have another chance to take it all in one more time. I see all the shots I didn't take. With keen photographer eyes, I observed each moment soaking it all in. Sometimes being a photographer prevents me from being a part of the experience as I become consumed with the perfect shot. For this one, I can forgive myself for missing shots as I watched the vibrant emotions of crews, maintainers and their loved ones swirl and soar high just as the planes they loved once did.
For these moments a permanent snapshot exists within my being no photo or video will ever capture. It was the sights, sounds, smells, touch and taste of a warm summer day in June when the last wisps of smoke swirled off the last Harrier and tears filled the eyes of the pilots who earned the jet's respect. With jaws set and eyes focused firmly ahead, they stepped down from her cockpit one last time and into the embrace of their Marine Corps friends and family. The page of a book softly turned as the hand of time gently closed the book on The AV-8B Harrier."

The Harrier Sundown.
Two minutes of the sound of history shutting down. What an amazing event to document and witness. Not going to lie, I had tears!

The B-25 "Maid In The Shade"
The true beauty of an old Warfighter beneath the rolling clouds and above rain soaked reflections never gets old. Although the weather in Rock Hill, SC grounded this old girl, I took advantage of the solitude to capture her essence. I am looking forward to seeing the B-25 and B-17 at their next tour stop in Virginia.
