The next four days have a threat for severe weather for the southern plains and mid-Mississippi valley. Friday looks to be the most concerning day but tomorrow and Thursday also have tornado potential.

Tomorrow (Thursday, Feb 19th) looks to be the first potential tornado chase of the 2026 season. There is just enough moisture in place under a strong trough and surface low to bring a threat of supercells capable of large hail, tornadoes, and damaging winds across Illinois and Indiana. I am heading out later this afternoon to Illinois. Not expecting much as there are many ways this setup could fall apart. But it’ll be great to shake the rust off and hit the road again!
