Ongoing urbanization in China, rapid and uneven, is changing the landscape and the people. Photographers witness the change and reconstruct it for the viewer through their unique personal perspective and artistic eye. This exhibition features 6 contemporary Chinese photographers whose work presents a complex, non-linear view of urbanization in shifting landscapes.

See Reconstructed Landscapes from 5.14.26 to 6.28.26 at 230 Goldsboro St S, Wilson, NC. Opening reception Sat. May 16th at 7 pm.

“When I first held a camera in my hands back in 1992, I never imagined that this magical box would impact my life so deeply, or that I would eventually build my entire life around it. Another thing I never imagined was the idea of having children with my
beloved wife. But that idea became a reality, and today I am the proud and happy father of two wonderful human beings. I can honestly say that this is the greatest project I have ever undertaken.“

What can we expect from a photograph? To be informed, through the lens of aesthetics, about the external world and about people’s inner lives. How we look and how we choose to see determines what we truly understand. These images come from a place that may feel distant, but the fundamentals of living - routine, family, a search for purpose - resonate.
