Today marks the 27th anniversary of the first wolf reintroduced into Yellowstone National Park (January 12, 1995). Please pay attention to what’s happening in Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho because this fall 20 wolves were killed by hunters when the wolves wandered outside the park boundary. There were just under 100 wolves in the park before this happened. The number of wolves has diminished rapidly in the past few years thanks to these Wild West hunting laws. This photo was taken last winter in the northern part of the park.

399 and the cubs have left Grand Teton and are heading into town during the busiest time of the year. This isn’t good and may not end well. They are in search of calories and they are heading into very dangerous territory in search of food. Please don’t go looking for them because we don’t need people causing even more problems in this dire situation.

ATTENTION ALL JACKSON RESIDENTS.

Now is the time to show that we care about our wild neighbors and can live alongside them. 399 and family is south of the park and in neighborhoods again. Secure all attractants and keep them moving to more natural areas. These bears are a national treasure and this is their home too. Let’s give them the room they need.

Repost from .tristen

Jackson Residents….….399 has left the park and is headed in town. She is taking the same route as last year so if you live in those areas please help keep them safe! Secure your trash cans, put away all animal feed, bbq accessories such as mesquite, and please spread the word in your neighborhoods. This is not a good situation so we all need to do our part to give these five the best chance possible.
