/ : Rain may have led to some major delays in scheduling, but saxophonist Jessy J was still able to take the stage for a crowd-pleasing performance at Bushnell Park's Performance Pavilion in Hartford yesterday [7/18/2026], part of this weekend's Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz. (Unfortunately, we ran into some during the set.) Selections included tracks from her latest collection "Terranova" and her first major radio hit "Tequila Moon".

: Thanks to a 2024 court decision that let Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman reclaim their band name, the duo has been touring together as The Guess Who for the first time in decades, and that included a stop at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday evening [7/19/2026]. In addition to the band's biggest hits, room was also made for a solo tune from Burton and the three most popular singles from Randy's other top project, Bachman-Turner Overdrive. (Burton even said that this won't be their last visit to the state, so maybe we ain't seen nothin' yet!) Opening the show was guitarist Don Felder, who performed a mix of Eagles classics and solo material like 1981's "Heavy Metal".

: A big crowd gathered at Waterfront Park in Dobbs Ferry, New York on Wednesday evening [7/8/2026] for the start of its annual Summer Concert Series, presented by Jazz Forum Club. The attendees were treated to two sets by jazz vocalist Emily Braden, who sang an enjoyable mix of originals and standards (including a closing Whitney Houston medley) with her quartet. In-between sets, New York State Assemblywoman Mary Jane Shimsky [11] briefly took the stage to talk about the role that the state plays in funding arts programs like this series.

/ : The latest installment of the ChirpCT concert series featured acoustic quartet Mr Sun at Ridgefield's East Ridge Middle School, on Tuesday night [7/7/2026], moved indoors due to the threat of rain (and yes, we noticed the humor in this, given the band's name!). The group, led by fiddler darol Anger, combined elements of bluegrass, jazz, and other styles to their two sets, mixing together originals with such classics as the Beatles' "Blackbird" - and threw in some good-natured jokes between selections, too.
