I have had “big kids” for a while now. I was getting sleep at least 8 solid hours a night, I woke up at 5am with energy and had an hour and half to myself. I had established good habits of walking every day and making time every morning to spend it first with Jesus.

I guess I forgot! I forgot what the exhaustion felt like during pregnancy. I’ve been trying to work at my normal pace and normal expectations for myself and letting that go knowing I can’t do as much as I was 3 months ago is so hard.

However it’s really made me truly stick to the business model I designed for myself last year and started in January and it’s been a true gift. Time with my family, time to serve my clients, time to rest, time to create just for me. This is what I want my business to look like.

There are seasons for hustle, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. When working hard and putting in the 10,000 hours and putting in the long nights and the multiple sessions in a day works for you and that’s OKAY! Please don’t hear that you’re doing anything wrong.

There also comes seasons when you are allowed to rest and you should never feel guilty for that. God guides you through every season, the ones for really hard work and sacrifice and the ones for rest and intentionality.

A love note to mommas…. Momma, I hope the images I capture take you back to a season of joy mixed with chaos, of peace mixed with navigating uncharted waters. A huge smile across your face as you look at how tiny they were even when life felt like climbing Mount Everest. I pray that it’s not just the light and the colors that you love about your images but instead the way they take you back to the feeling of your nose pressed against their baby soft skin and the way their hand felt so small inside your own. I hope you see the man beside you, the man you fell in love with, the man who held you close when life seemed to be falling apart and I pray you’re reminded of how far you two have come. Momma I hope you see how beautiful you were and still are, the way you lit up at the sound of their giggles and when you looked over to see the love of your life beaming back at you. I hope this how you feel when you walk down the halls of your home and see your photos on the walls marking a season gone by but one still treasured deeply in your heart.

Guys… I’ve been thinking about how I want to offer the TCC Community again. It was so wonderful and I loved getting to offer it to so many of you but my heart has been pulled to smaller groups like my workshops. I genuinely want to invest in photographers businesses and art which is why the Community is capped at just 6 photographers! I am SO pumped for this new structure! Doors close Oct 1 and we’ll start our 6 months together. I can’t wait to connect with you!

The photographs I love most were rarely the ones I planned.

They’re the ones I noticed.

A hand reaching.

Wind catching a dress.

The split second before someone laughs.

Light landing somewhere I didn’t expect it to.

I think we spend so much time learning what to DO during a session that we forget to practice seeing.

I’ve been dreaming about creating a space where photographers could do exactly that.

No pressure to perform.

No gallery to deliver.

Just beautiful people, beautiful light, and permission to experiment.

I’m working on making it happen.
