For several years, I sent a monthly newsletter. The heading was always an image of mine paired with a quote that was appropriate for the subject of the newsletter.
Earlier this year, I decided to take a break from that newsletter. The purpose it had for me is no longer relevant and I’m not sure what the next purpose of it might be.
Tuesday, I met a new creative friend to talk about creating a setting for several of us to get together to work on projects, collaborate, brainstorm, teach and/or learn. She had been part of a photo project for 7 years and did not miss one week of it. This year, she decided it was unnecessary pressure to keep her streak going.
We’re so hard on ourselves;ed idea in our heads that it’s not good for us to break a habit or streak, or to change something we’ve done for years.
The thing is, we NEED to take those breaks. When it’s not fun anymore or when it’s too much pressure for no reason, we need to take the break. Let go of the pressure we’ve placed on ourselves. It worked for a while, then it stopped working. Let it go.
It’s OK!
