My lovely friend has a new book coming out with a big secret I’ve been keeping (but more about that later).

“Year of the Beast” is a stream of consciousness photobook spanning 2020. A chronological diary featuring dogs, twins, and domestic scenes from rural Vermont, under a looming specter of doom.

Last month I mailed in my ballot for Biden/Harris. I voted to protect the rights of women to choose what happens to our own bodies. I voted to protect Black lives, science, the environment, and LGBTQ+ rights. I voted for decency and education. I voted to fight climate change and for police reform. I voted for social justice. I voted to protect those of us with pre-existing conditions. I voted for change.

I believe in progress, kindness, and equality. I believe that children shouldn’t be locked in cages. I believe that humans are humans no matter what country they are from. I believe that the Black community should not have to fear for their lives by those sworn to protect us. I believe that healthcare and education are basic human rights. I believe in gun control. I believe we deserve a president who is honest, not a bigot, and not full of hatred. We deserve facts. We deserve safety for our marginalized communities. We deserve access to healthcare.

If you haven’t already, please vote tomorrow.

My first virtual exhibition for of 2020 is now live! It was a pleasure to look at over 600 entries and to be able to put this together. Thank you to all the submitting artists!

Too Tired for 2020 surveys the state of a world darkened by unyielding catastrophes. It is a story of isolation, violence, and struggle - an account of humanity and our environment coming apart under pressure. The artists included in this exhibition share their experiences navigating a world of uncertainty. These are photos of seclusion, political unrest, and the heaviness of day-to-day life after 6 months of quarantine. The featured artists in this exhibition explore their own lives within the context of what can only be described as a time that is truly unprecedented in its heaviness. This exhibition brings together work that to me, holds an incredible historical significance.

I had the pleasure of curating this virtual exhibition at . Thinking a lot about what it means to consume art and what methods of connecting and creating community will be important going forward (and what we will end up leaving by the wayside). I love the internet.
Anyway, feeling totally blessed that looking at art and designing exhibitions is what I get to do for one of my jobs.

I ran out of space to tag people: .gencarelli @ Castleton University Art Galleries
