Today marks our 8 years together. It feels like we've been together for ages (we have) yet haven't been together long enough (we haven't). For me, it's a lovely paradox and one that I revel in everytime I think about it.

Photos of I took nearly a month ago, under a maple tree near my apartment.

I'm trying a new colour palette and moving away from the saturated palette that I've maintained for a few years now in my photos to more muted, soft colours. I literally sat down for hours, moving sliders and curves in camera raw, trying to replicate the colours of different film styles and saving them as presets. I managed to make quite a few that I'm happy with.

Using the presets though, I get different hue and saturation levels (visual difference, the settings haven't changed) depending on the brightness, temperature and hue of the scenery at the time of capture. I really love the muted colours of the first photo but copying and pasting its settings to other photos produces varied results. Oh well, photography is a never ending learning process. Also, it's easy for me to tell myself I don't need professional results since I'm not a professional photographer. As long as they look good to me, however flawed, I'm pretty happy.

It's been a good while since I last picked up my camera for a serious photo session with or anyone for that matter. We took these photos on a small patch of green on my campus, a place I'd been eyeing and itching to photograph her in since I first saw it two years ago.

I love these photos - firsts in a long while of my own work. Last I remember taking photos that I really personally loved were last year during fall and half a year before that when I was back in Nepal.

Also, Bijeta turned 26 the day after these photos were taken so these are also a kind of birthday gift to her from my side, albeit about a week late.

I got a couple of disposable cameras for myself and over the winter. We would have a camera each in our pocket, and take photos as we went about our day. I got them developed recently and here are a few of them.

Photo 1: Bee at Leddy Beach.
Photo 2: Silhouette of Bee down at the waterfront in Burlington.
Photo 3: Bee at Times Square, NY.
(I initially bought the cameras for us to take photos during our trip to Manhattan. However, day turned dark pretty quickly so we only ended up taking a handful of photos.)
Photo 4 and 5: Bee at Coney Island.

This photo is a stitch of 31 different photos because I didn't have a lens wide enough to get this view in one picture. I think the stitch came out exceptionally well considering the fact that the individual photos were taken with a 24mm lens, already a wide lens with distortion. I took this over a week ago - since then all the leaves have fallen and only the pine leaves remain.

I didn't take as many Fall portraits as I wanted to. Much of it was due to bad timing, with making it to Burlington on weekends when it wasn't peak fall yet here while it was almost past peak in the rest of Vermont. Still, I did manage to snag a photo here and there where the foliage was golden.

I took a stroll in the Boston Public Garden with this last weekend. The weather wasn't too great, with a total cloud cover, constant drizzle, and low temperature but we still managed to have a lot of fun just walking around Boston. We tried clam chowder in a bread bowl at Quincy Market (wanted to try lobster but it was a lot of money for not much food), put on perfume from tester bottles at a Sephora, saw a w**d themed farmer's market kinda event, and walked the entirety of Newbury Street making fun of all the fancy brands that lined up the street. And in between, we managed to squeeze in this mini photo shoot in the middle of the public garden.
