I’ve done a lot of cool things in the last 6 months, but something about yesterday feels extra special.

Shooting a sport I’ve grown to love, on the pro scale, infront of a sold out crowd, on a Thursday night in Durham, North Carolina is a feeling hard to put into words.

While I’ve never swung a bat myself (and quite prefer the safety of the dugout), something about Softball drew me in. My first game was also my first solo assignment for UGA Athletics and it was safe to say I was beyond nervous. But I walked into a team of girls who LOVED what they did with everything in them and when you have a group like that, good pictures come easy.

From that first game in Athens, Georgia with my Bulldogs, I knew I was there for a reason and that God had something to show me on that field. These girls play with a passion that is palpable, with energy and dedication that cannot be ignored, and I’m so grateful I get to capture it.

And so, last month on a whim I cold emailed Abby Alonzo, who without hesitation welcomed me with open arms. When she asked me what I wanted to shoot, my answer was simple; everything. The emotions. The crowd. The energy. Basically what makes softball well, softball. I’d like to think I did a pretty good job. I could not be more thankful to Abby for this incredible opportunity to do what I love. Days like that remind me why I picked up a camera in the first place.

Already counting down the days till the next time the dawgs take on Jack Turner at home in Athens 💕
