Announcing: MAINE STEAM WEEKEND, taking place in Maine the weekend of May 9 & 10, 2026!
Celebrate on May 9 with an ultra-rare opportunity to experience not one, not two, but THREE historic Maine two-footer locomotives in steam.
- In Portland: Maine Narrow Gauge will have Bridgton & S**o River Railroad engine #7 in steam for all trips on May 9 and 10. While we are fundraising for a storage facility for #7, this is your chance to see, hear, smell, and experience this iconic 1913 coal-fired Baldwin engine in steam along Portland's waterfront.
40-minute trips will depart on May 9 and May 10 at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm from 65 Thames Street in Portland. Advance tickets are available from MaineNarrowGauge.org and will be available in-person on May 9 and 10.
- In Alna: Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum will be running a special photo charter on May 9 at 3:00pm featuring Monson Railroad steam engine #3. Monson #3, a 1913-built Vulcan locomotive, is owned by Maine Narrow Gauge and is currently stored in Alna. Having recently returned to Maine from a brief stint in Massachusetts, we can't wait for #3 to once again steam in the Pine Tree State.
To add guest capacity, the photo charter with Monson #3 will be supported by WW&F's own steam engine #9, an 1891-built Portland Company engine that has made its home on the Sandy River, the Kennebec Central, historic WW&F, and revived WW&F railroads. Get tickets at WWFry.org. *This event is expected to sell out. Reserve your spot today!
Our friends from Maine Locomotive & Machine Works will be providing crew and event support in Alna. Proceeds support Maine Locomotive & Machine Works' ongoing restorations of steam engines Monson Railroad #4 and Bridgton & S**o River Railroad #8.
If you're a fan of steam locomotives, Maine two-footer heritage, or Maine history, you don't want to miss the Maine Steam Weekend! Proceeds support the dual restorations of Monson steam engine #4 and Bridgton & S**o River Railroad #8.
We look forward to an exciting weekend of steam action in May! HUGE thanks to our friends at the Wiscasset, Waterville, & Farmington Railway and Maine Locomotive & Machine Works for making the weekend possible and supporting Maine Narrow Gauge.
