Summer Kellogg Photography

Summer Kellogg Photography I am an on-site photographer who aims to capture the real-life beautiful moments. Please visit www.summerkellogg.com for more info.

My love for photography grew out of a need to find beauty amidst the pain of losing my Mom. My passion to document moments bloomed out of the realization that time is so very fleeting. My commitment to photography came from a deep desire to gather up our moments and hold onto them, even after my memory fades. My camera has allowed me to see better. Like a person who learns they have 20/70 vision and is given the perfect prescription for their eyes, a whole world opens up. The view becomes crisper, clearer, and more vibrant. My view finder has given me a more accurate view of the wonderful world that is always right in front of me.

I wear sunglasses to hide the tears, because, there is sadness.

I wear a smile because, of course, there is joy.

We hold them both. Joy and sadness. I’m a feeler. I feel it all.

There’s nothing else I’d rather her be doing right now. She’s exactly where she’s supposed to be. It’s her time to fly. She will thrive.

I am happy. And also, sad.

We are between what was and what will be.

We loved what was. Every single season. But I’ve been parenting long enough to know that the new seasons, as hesitant as I am each time we enter them, are beautiful and amazing, too.

She is launched. I now stand back and watch.

I cheer. I pray. I celebrate. I cry. And I smile.

All is as it should be.

She is ready for this new season. I am ready, too.

Firsts and Lasts, all in one.

Her first time as a high school student.
My last time dropping off a first time high schooler.

Her first time being the only Kellogg in the district.
My last one headed off all on her own for the first time.

The first time I’ve taken a solo First Day of School picture.
The last full year I will drive her to school every morning.

From our first breath to the last—life is full of firsts and lasts. Sometimes I recognize them, other times, I don’t.

Next week we will launch Chanelle into the world for many firsts.

It’s bitter and it’s sweet. As first as lasts go.

Here’s to another year.
