Class of 2027 seniors, let's talk timing.

Senior year is closer than it feels, and if you're dreaming up photos at more than one location (that favorite field, downtown, the family farm, wherever), late June and early July is really the sweet spot to get on the books.

Here's the honest truth about our schedule. Right now we've got room to work around you. But once school starts back up, we shift gears into junior high and high school fall sports, football, volleyball, cross country, and that keeps us busy pretty much nonstop through September. We get a short breather after that before fall color sessions take over, but by then most of the good senior session spots are long gone.

So if you want first pick of dates and locations, and a session that doesn't feel rushed, now is the time to grab it. Reach out and let's get you on the calendar before summer fills up.

The calendar is about to change.

In just a few weeks, evenings will be filled with practices, games, homework, and everything else that comes with a new school year.

Right now, we have a handful of summer session dates still available. It's one of the few times each year when families can slow down long enough to create portraits they'll enjoy for decades.

Whether it's your senior's milestone year, a long-overdue family portrait, or simply updating the images on your walls, we'd love to help you preserve this season of life.

Send us a message to learn more about our remaining summer availability.

What's the difference between a cell phone photo and a professional portrait?

The answer isn't the camera.

The first image was taken with a cell phone. It captures the moment, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

The second image was created with professional equipment, intentional lighting, and years of experience behind the camera. Notice how the subject stands out, the light is more flattering, and the composition draws your eye exactly where it should.

The third image is where the magic really happens. Professional editing transforms a great photograph into a finished portrait by balancing color, enhancing light, removing distractions, and bringing the artist's vision to life. It's the difference between taking a picture and creating artwork.

Your senior only graduates once.

When these portraits are hanging on your wall years from now, you'll remember the experience, the excitement, and the pride of this milestone. That's why we believe senior portraits should be more than snapshots. They should be works of art that your family will treasure for generations.

Believe it or not, there are only about six weeks left before school starts. Our calendar fills up quickly once the school year begins, and because of our school and sports photography commitments, session availability becomes very limited through September. If you're planning to book with us, we encourage you to reserve your session soon so you have the best choice of available dates.

Who is Meridian Photo?

Hi, I'm Cory Loomis, owner of Meridian Photo.

I was born in Northeast Nebraska, raised in Bloomfield, and graduated from Bloomfield High School. After graduation, I joined the United States Navy in 1994, where I proudly served for ten years, 3 years of which were aboard the USS Bremerton (SSN-698). During my military career, I was stationed in Hawaii, Guam, and Japan, experiences that shaped who I am today.

After completing my military service, I returned to Guam to attend college, earning a bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a minor in Photography. While I enjoyed technology, photography quickly became my true passion.

Following graduation, I returned to my hometown of Bloomfield, Nebraska, where I opened my first photography studio. Over the years, the studio grew as my business knowledge expanded. Along the way, I became heavily involved with Professional Photographers of America and the Nebraska Professional Photographers Association.

Education and continual growth have always been important to me. I earned my Certified Professional Photographer designation and later achieved the Master Photographer degree through PPA. I also served on the board of the Nebraska Professional Photographers Association for several years and had the privilege of serving as its president. As I complete my term as outgoing president, I remain committed to helping photographers grow while continually improving my own craft.

In 2024, my family and I relocated to Yankton, where we opened Meridian Photo in the Meridian District. Our goal has always been simple: create exceptional photographs while providing every client with an experience they will remember for years to come.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll probably find me bowling, golfing, playing disc golf, or enjoying a game of billiards.

My greatest supporters are my family. My wife, Jessie, and I were married in 2009, and together we're raising our two children, Baila and Tyreen. Bella now attends school in Yankton, and we're proud to call this community home.

Photography is more than a career for me. It's a way to preserve memories, tell stories, and create artwork that families will treasure for generations. I'm honored every time someone trusts me to capture an important moment in their life, and I look forward to telling many more stories through my camera.

Here are 5 common mistakes seniors make when planning their session:

1. Wearing clothing with large logos or graphics.
2. Choosing neon colors that distract from your face.
3. Wearing clothes that don't fit properly.
4. Bringing only one style of outfit.
5. Waiting until the night before to plan.

The good news? Every Meridian Photo senior receives guidance before their session to help create a look that feels authentic and timeless.

Which mistake surprises you the most?
