Were Catherine and James the silliest kids on York Beach on Saturday evening? 100% 🤩

These guys kept me, their mom Maura (and my daughter Molly!) laughing all night at York Harbor Beach as they posed for the camera, snuggled their 6-month old puppy, and ran, splashed, and made jokes for our entire session.

York Harbor is one of my most favorite spots in Southern Maine - with always-stunning light in the park above the beach and on the beach itself. It’s such a gem of a spot for a variety of photo locations and was absolutely perfect for this crew who made the trip north from the Boston area for our session.

This was my seventh time with these guys in front of my camera, and one of my most favorites so far. A perfect summer evening with so much joy. 💕

Before our session last week, Nora’s mom told me that Nora came downstairs in a yellow sundress. She looked herself over, and said “this is SO NOT ME” and ran upstairs to put on her lacrosse t-shirt.

And so began year 11 with Nora - who has let me photograph her in everything from tutus and bathing suits, fancy dresses to tween style, and casual cool. Since she was a toddler, she has kept me smiling behind the lens while she smiles into it, and this year was no different.

Alongside mom Martha, dad Ryan, and 7-month old pup Charlie, Nora soaked up being the star of our session again this year - our eleventh year in a row. 🥹 This year I found myself in awe of her growth - with so much maturity and all the sparkle that I am used to from this awesome kid and her amazing family.

Graduation weekend is upon us here in Yarmouth, and while I always have a soft spot for all of the seniors I photograph, I'm really feeling all the feels for these three.🥹

Last year I shared three sappy blog posts celebrating my neighbors Sebastian, Cassie, and Sam, but as I sit here today, two days before they actually graduate, I am finding myself extra emotional.

Maybe it was the honor of being present at their senior award ceremony this morning or maybe it's the memories of all of the days and evenings watching them grow up in the neighborhood..be it through games of foursquare in the street, stuffie weddings 😉, impromptu parties, soooo many snacks, clubs, ideas, and beautifully chaotic hangouts. The magic of this neighborhood is unique and rare, and we all know how lucky we are to have it.

But most likely, it is knowing that the vibe of the neighborhood is on the eve of change itself. Our kids are growing up, and getting ready to have their own adventures. My only hope is that in between it all they reflect on a childhood full of so much love and laughter not only within their own walls but within the many open doors that our neighborhood has provided. I know I speak for all the parents, when I say we love them all like our own.

To Sam, Cassie, and Sebastian - I am so unbelievably proud of all three of you. You have grown into beautiful humans ready to take on the world, and I can't wait to watch all three of you become the absolute best version of yourselves. You are all well on your way.

💕 Mini session love with the G Family! 💕

My second mini session from last week - this one with the adorable Kimberlyn, Nick, and 1.5 year old Mae.

I am so grateful that I get to see these guys a few times a year, and totally blown away by how much Mae has grown just since November! As always, she was a total ham for the camera.

Add some crazy cool light at the end of the session, and it just simply could not have been any better for these three at the beach on mini session day. 🥰

✨ Mini session magic with the M Family! ✨

I had three insanely amazing mini sessions last Monday at Crescent Beach, and it was SO GOOD to be back on the beach!

I’m excited to be able to share two of my three sessions, starting with the M Family! 💕

This was my third session with this crew, and after a few sessions with some shy feelings, we were off to the races this year with alllllllllllll the giggles and allllllllll the sillies! The. Best. Such a fun time with this special crew! 🤩

After much thought and research, I’ve decided to take a break from blogging this year.

I LOVE to write. LOVE IT.

But, I’m realizing that 1. The world is changing a bit, and I need to change with it, and 2. Blogging takes up SO much of my time - literally about TWO WEEKS of my life each season. That’s A LOT!

My current blog will stay online so you can still use it for location and outfit ideas, but I’ll also be updating my website and portfolio more often throughout the season now with more current work.

I’ll still be telling the stories - just here on socials instead of on the blog. My hope is that it can give me a little more breathing room so there is a little less burnout and I can do this for a little more time. 💕

I might get a little slack for this one…

I feel like my whole feed is videos of photographers photographing - and I have to say….I just can’t do it. 🫣

Truly, no judgement to those who do - I think it’s great if you can balance the two, and I know I definitely learn from many of these videos!

But for me…when I’m behind the camera, I’m behind THE camera. Not my cell phone. And I’m certainly not thinking about what content I am making while I’m also focusing on capturing you and/or your family.

Maybe this is the new old school…who knows. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But my content here will continue to be photos, because that’s how I best express and share my art.

Clients - please know if I’m not whipping out my phone during our session..it’s not you…it’s me. 😆

Photo friends - don’t take this personally! Again, it’s not you…it’s me. You do you, friends! 💕

And if you feel a similar way - I guess I’m just here in solidarity with you and the old school photog club. 😂

LOVING this summer temperatures in May this week! Between the most adorable preschool photos yesterday and this morning, followed by some relaxing outside soaking up temps in the 80's and 90's, I am SO READY to be back in the sunshine with my camera in hand! Sold out minis this weekend..my season is underway! 🙌🏻
