Took these photos in Mammoth and Glacier. Here are some interesting facts about bighorn sheep. Enjoy!

1. They live at heights of 10,000 ft with some heard's living as high as 14,000 ft.

2. During the summer, they eat grasses or sedges. During the winter they eat more woody plants, such as willow, sage and rabbit brush. Desert bighorn eat brushy plants such as a desert holly and desert cactus.

3. They can jump 20ft horizontally, 6ft vertically, and turn mid-air to find footing.

4. Their hoofs have a hard outer rim for gripping rock, and a soft inner pad for traction.

5. They have amazing balance, and can stand on ledges that are only 2 inches wide.

6. Their horns weigh over 30lbs

7. There are two parts to their horns, a sheath overlying a bony core filled with blood vessels. This helps regulate body temperatures as the climate changes.

8. Females do have horns, but they are shorter with less curvature.

9. The males can reach lengths of 3.3 ft and weigh up to 30 lbs.

10. Males are called rams and females are called ewes.

11. Ram's live in bachelor heard's while ewes live in separate heard's, with their young, meeting only to mate.

12. The lifespan of rams is typically 9-12 years, and 10-14 years for ewes.

13. There are three subspecies for bighorn sheep, occupying separate geographical areas: the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep; the Sierra Nevada bighorn sheep, and the desert bighorn sheep.

Shot these just outside the Gardiner Entrance. Here are some interesting Antelope facts. Enjoy!

1. They have two toes on each foot.

2. Unlike deer, their antlers continue to grow for their entire life, and they never shed them.

3. Their antler shapes vary. Some are straight, others, like the impala, are curved or develop into spirals.

4. They are from the same family as goats and sheep.

5. There are 90 different species of antelope spread across the globe from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

6. They are long-distance runners, and can run 30-40 mph for over 20 miles.

7. They can jump 33 ft horizontally and 10 ft vertically.

8. Like sheep females are called 'ewes' and males are called 'rams'

9. The biggest antelope is the Eland, weighing 1,450 lbs and a height of 6.5 ft. By comparison, the Royal antelope is tiny, only 10-12 inches.

10. They have exceptional Eyesight. They can see 8-10 times sharper than humans, have panoramic eyes that see 300 degree without having to turn, and, according to experts, have celestial sight strong enough to see the rings of Saturn on a clear night.

Feel free to fact check that last one lol.
