🪶 Happy International Vulture Awareness Day! 🖤

Vultures might not fit everyone’s idea of beautiful, but these birds are seriously underrated.
They’re nature’s cleanup crew 🧹 They eat carrion, help limit the spread of disease 🦠 and recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem. 🌎 Turkey vultures even have an incredible sense of smell and can sniff out food hidden beneath vegetation! 👃
They’re smart, social, fascinating birds that play a HUGE role in keeping ecosystems healthy. 💚
And really, not everything in nature has to be pretty to be pretty damn important. 🖤🪶

🦗 They’re ambush predators that eat insects like flies, moths, grasshoppers, crickets, and other bugs they can overpower.

👩🏼‍🏫 Those bright green parts aren't actually its fangs. They're called chelicerae, the mouthparts that hold the fangs. That metallic green comes from the way microscopic structures reflect light, which is why the color can look different depending on the angle.
It's crazy how much detail is hiding on something most people would walk right past. And this guy was about the size of a nickel 🪙

What do you see when you look at the wild? 👀📸

For me, it’s the little moments the ones most people might pass right by. A glance, a movement, or a split second that makes me stop and grab my camera.

✨ Did you know?

A hummingbird’s glowing throat feathers don’t actually contain the brilliant red, pink, or green pigment you see.

Instead, microscopic structures inside the feathers reflect and bend light—almost like millions of tiny prisms. 🌈

That’s why a hummingbird’s throat can look blazing red one second… and nearly black the next, just from a slight change in angle.

Pretty wild for something that weighs less than a nickel. 🤯

Just taking a little swim 👙 across Yellowstone River. It took this Bison 🦬 about 5 minutes to cross(video is sped up) fascinating how they can swim across rivers like that
