Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve gotten some of the best compliments without people probably even realizing they were compliments.
During a senior session with a handsome young man, his momma reminded me that I’ve been photographing their family for TEN YEARS. Ten freaking years!! How cool is that?!
Then this past week, I was with another family who is on year seven with me. Momma and I were chatting about some of the spots we had used during their past sessions, and she asked me if I go back and look through their old sessions beforehand.
Nope. I just remember my people.
I remember your kids. I remember places we’ve gone, things we’ve done before, what you loved, and little things about your family from year to year.
And I know there are even more families who have stuck with me from the beginning, or pretty darn close to it. I’ve been doing this for almost 15 years now, and the fact that some of you have trusted me with your families for such a huge chunk of that time is kind of crazy to think about.
I take a lot of pride in my work, but taking care of my families is just as important to me. Getting to watch your kids grow up, seeing your families change, and having you come back year after year is pretty freaking cool.
