Who says some of the best photos of the day can’t happen during cocktail hour?

Jenna and Matt were surrounded by their favorite people at Cork Factory Hotel, catching up, laughing, and soaking it all in. No posing. No pulling them away from the party. Just real moments unfolding naturally.

Cocktail hour is one of my favorite parts of a wedding day to photograph because everyone finally gets a chance to breathe, reconnect, and be fully present. The laughs get bigger. The hugs get tighter. Genuine moments start happening everywhere.

You may not even realize I’m capturing them, but these are often the photos that bring you right back to exactly how your wedding felt.

Tory and Logan in one of my favorite portrait spots at Bentley Farms.

This open field gives us room to create something bigger than a close-up. The wildflowers, open sky, and surrounding landscape all become part of the photograph, giving them portraits that feel connected to the place where they celebrated their wedding day.

Neil and his best man clearly understood the assignment.

Get dressed, keep everyone laughing, and make sure the morning felt less like a formal production and more like hanging out with your favorite people.

The polished (pun intended) portraits matter, but so do the ridiculous little moments that bring the entire wedding day back exactly as it felt.

How do you end a wedding day that already felt this full?

With everyone you love gathered around you. Sparklers in the air. Cheers echoing through the night. And one last kiss in the middle of it all.

Maya and Rob’s sendoff at The Barn at Silverstone felt like the entire day coming together in one moment. The happy tears. The hugs. The laughter. The packed dance floor. Every person who had celebrated beside them all day was there, lighting the way into whatever comes next.

The energy was loud and completely electric, but somehow, right in the center of it, it still felt like it was just the two of them.

What a way to begin forever.

Not every wedding portrait needs an epic background.

Sometimes the best choice is the simplest one.

A clean wall, soft light, and a little movement kept the focus exactly where it belonged, on Sara and John. Their expressions, their connection, and the way they naturally laugh together are what make this image work.

Cork Factory Hotel has plenty of dramatic spaces, but knowing when to step away from all of that can create something just as strong.

Simple does not have to mean boring. Sometimes simple is what lets the moment speak for itself.

I do not share detail photos very often, but when the details look like this, they absolutely deserve to be part of the story.

Alyssa and Ed carefully thought through every portion of their day at Excelsior. The colorful florals. The warm candlelight. The custom es**rt display. The rich teal accents. Every choice worked together to transform the space and create an experience that felt completely intentional.

Details are not just things to photograph. When they are chosen this thoughtfully, they show the care, personality, and vision that went into the entire celebration.

When Brittney and Jimmy exchanged vows at Drumore Estate, there were two stories unfolding at the exact same time.

Her laughter as she read her promises.

His smile as he listened to every word.

These moments happen simultaneously, and neither reaction should be missed. That is one of the biggest reasons I photograph every wedding with two photographers.

While one of us focuses on the person speaking, the other can capture the emotion on the face of the person hearing those words. Together, those photographs tell the complete story of the ceremony, not just what was said, but how it felt to hear it.

Because years from now, you will want to remember your vows.

But you will also want to see the way the person you love looked at you while you said them.

He may not remember the way his dad carefully buttoned his jacket on his dad's wedding day at the Cork Factory Hotel...but his dad will never forget.

He may not remember the quiet smile they shared, the nervous excitement in the room, or how proud Mike looked standing beside his little boy.

But one day, he will have this photograph.

He will see how small he once was. How his dad leaned in close. How much love was already written all over this moment.

Wedding days are filled with big celebrations, but it is often the quiet moments between them that become the most meaningful.

Christmas in July… even though MariBeth and Chris’ wedding actually happened in December. 😂

I do not create nearly as many “tiny people in a big scene” portraits as I used to, but there is still absolutely a time and place for them. Especially when the location gives you something this good.

Winter weather does not always cooperate. Darkness comes early. It may be freezing, raining, or doing all three at once. That is why your photographer needs to be able to walk into any space, see the possibilities, and still make something magical.

This quiet little moment inside The Star Barn felt like its own world. The stone, the warm lights, and MariBeth and Chris right in the center of it all.

Moira and Aron ended the night the best way.

Just the two of them on the dance floor at Cork Factory Hotel, wrapped up in string lights, custom sweats, matching Nikes, and all the quiet emotion that hits once the party slows down.

This is why I love a private last dance. It gives you one more chance to breathe it all in before the night is over. No guests. No distractions. Just the two of you, your venue, and the feeling of realizing that all of it actually happened.
