Before you @ me, just know I’ve heard it all but also been doing this successfully for 8 years so…

Comment UN**ES and I’ll send you the pair that’s been with me on all of my thru-hikes.

And yes, this all started as a way to cut pack weight as a dirty thru hiker on the PCT.

Another note: natural fibers do break down much faster than synthetics. I had to replace my underwear once on the PCT about halfway through due to the underwear falling apart.

But, I still buy them because they just work the best for me. No chafing, no wedgies, just pure underwear bliss.

Hot takes??? The John Muir Trail is absolutely amazing and is one of the best smaller thru-hikes out there.

I got to hike this trail in 2020 going southbound, 2 years after going northbound on the Pacific Crest Trail. If you didn’t know, the PCT and JMT basically completely overlap from Tuolumne Meadows to Crabtree Meadows.

Getting to hike this section in 2 directions and in 2 different snow levels was very special and I’ll never stop comparing the trail in those 2 different settings. Spoiler alert: it’s incredible in both 🏔️

This is probably the best summer road trip in California ☀️⛰️

Day 1: Lake Tahoe
-Chimney Beach
-Emerald Bay Sunset

Day 2: Tahoe - Lee Vining
-Get ice cream in Bridgeport!
-Hike 20 Lakes Basin
-Visit Mono Lake

Day 3: Tuolumne Meadows
-Drive to Tioga Pass
-Hike Gaylor Lakes
-Olmstead Point
-Relax, swim, or SUP at Tenaya Lake

Day 4: Mammoth Lakes
-Hot Creek
-Owens River
-Convict Lake
-Lake Mary

Day 5: Bishop
-Explore Lake Sabrina - hike from there!
-Grab food at Looney Bean, Great Basin Bakery, or Erick Schats

🌿Remember to Leave No Trace when you’re out exploring the outdoors this summer: Leave it better than you found it - always!
