Wow… long time no post. Sorry, y’all! Things have been a bit hectic, and this got away from me! Here’s one of my favorite photos from Yosemite National Park, taken at the same spot I shared in an earlier post. Here in Georgia, we have Stone Mountain, a giant slab of granite rising up out of the dirt. Yosemite oddly felt like an inverted Stone Mountain—except instead of driving around the exterior, you’re riding around the interior.

Back in Joshua Tree for this one! In fact, this is one of my favorite sections of the park. If I recall correctly, the signs in this area warn about getting close to the Cholla cacti as their spines are barbed and, as a result, are easy to be spiked by and are very painful to remove. My wife pulled about five needles from our child on our most recent trip after he grabbed a small cactus that we didn’t see; it wasn’t a fun experience, and that wasn’t even a Cholla cactus. Seen in this picture is a dust devil—something that always brings out my inner childlike giddiness, much like tumbleweeds do. I know they’re commonplace out west, but they both remind me of watching cartoons as a kid. Hopefully, the gallery this photo is from will be up by this weekend for you to enjoy! When we were at Yosemite, we decided to take Tioga Road to the east entrance of the park. We stopped at Olmsted Point to see Half Dome from a different angle and as I approached the viewpoint I noticed this couple. I immediately loved the way they were lit and the way they seemed to be sitting perfectly atop the rock/mountain. As I took the shot, I heard someone ask “did you just take a picture of that couple there?” Luckily, they weren’t weirded out by a random stranger taking a photo of their friends/family but instead wanted a copy of the photo. I used the WiFi from my camera to transfer it to my phone and then airdropped it to them(thank you iPhone).

In 2022, my wife, my parents, and I flew into San Francisco to hit Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Joshua Tree, Grand Canyon, and Sedona. The first thing we did though was visit Muir Woods National Monument just north of San Francisco and it was beautiful. It made me excited to visit Redwoods National Park at some point. This is a shot from Muir Beach just outside of Muir Woods National Monument. This photo is from an upcoming gallery so keep posted! This is a photo of Joshua Tree National Park which will be part of my next available National Park gallery. If you haven’t seen my 3 available galleries, you can find it at my website www.ZacharyYoder.photography. Joshua Tree is one of my favorites for the very reason that it has such a surreal landscape that feels like it’s from another planet. We had initially intended to be in Joshua Tree for an evening and the following morning before going to the Grand Canyon but we decided to make a stop at Sequoyah and Kings Canyon on our drive down. So, once again, here I am wishing we had more time in yet another national park. Like I said, Joshua Tree is one of my favorites and if you’re curious as to what my favorites list looks like, you can also find that on my website.

My intention of creating a website was to create a place where everyone could easily view my galleries as instagram and Facebook aren't the best for seeing large groupings of pictures. As of right now, I have 3 galleries up and I will be adding more as I finish editing them, so keep posted!
