Back in Joshua Tree for this one! In fact, this is one of my favorite sections of the park. If I recall correctly, the signs in this area warn about getting close to the Cholla cacti as their spines are barbed and, as a result, are easy to be spiked by and are very painful to remove. My wife pulled about five needles from our child on our most recent trip after he grabbed a small cactus that we didn’t see; it wasn’t a fun experience, and that wasn’t even a Cholla cactus. Seen in this picture is a dust devil—something that always brings out my inner childlike giddiness, much like tumbleweeds do. I know they’re commonplace out west, but they both remind me of watching cartoons as a kid. Hopefully, the gallery this photo is from will be up by this weekend for you to enjoy! If you’d like to see my galleries featuring some of my other favorite parks, such as Glacier, Zion, and Arches, as well as quite a few others, go to my website www.zacharyyoder.photography, or if you’re on Instagram, the link is in my bio.
