In full bloom ๐ธ Iโve never been to Japan during actual cherry blossom (Sakura) season. But last year I got extremely lucky at the end of my trip in February when I heard about a town that has a type of cherry blossom tree that blooms a full month before the rest of the trees in Japan.
It took 6 hours from Mount Fuji, 3 trains, and 3 different buses to get to this tiny peninsula that almost nobody talks about. Absolutely insane. The entire riverwalk is about 2.5 miles and lined with over 800 cherry blossom trees that were in full bloom in February. Every single tree came from one original tree (slide 10). During the day there are food vendors lining the streets, and at night they illuminate the trees along the water. I spent two days here solo walking the area capturing these photos and patiently waiting for the perfect subjects.
Still canโt believe I almost skipped it.
