The Aurora Borealis Comes to Oklahoma, Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
There have been a handful of times the aurora was visible in central Oklahoma, but tonight was the best I've seen. Usually, it was only visible with a camera set for a long exposure, but tonight, it was visible with the naked eye for a good part of the show.
Here are some pictures I shot tonight. I shot these in far northwest OKC. The lights on the horizon is Piedmont.

God's Artwork Revisited
After posting my snowflake photos last night, I decided to go out one more time as the last wave passed our house. This was about 3:15 AM. The snow shower was light, but there were occasional "big fluffy" flakes mixed in with tiny flakes. Turns out, "big fluffy" flakes are just dozens of tiny flakes stuck together.
Here are a few of the pics I took during the last wave. I believe the best two or three pics of the whole night came from this last shoot.
I am amazed by the intricate nature of snowflakes. There are crystalline shapes within crystalline shapes over and over. I believe things like this absolutely confirm God's existence. Only an artist could create such beauty.

I shot these pictures Thursday night. Smaller than the head of a pin, these tiny ice crystals are amazing. Absolute works of art. God's art.

Jesus and the Cross
The other evening, I went down to the Capitol grounds to shoot some pictures of the State Capitol at night for a work project. After photographing the Capitol, I decided into downtown and take a few shots around the OKC Memorial. I parked my car in the parking lot of Old St. Joe's Cathedral and walked over to the Memorial. I walked past the Weeping Jesus statue and took a few shots, but did not see the best part. When I was walking back to my car, I was struck by this scene. The statue of Jesus, weeping over the lost from the Murrah Building bombing, with the illuminated cross on top of the church steeple. Because of the darkness, the cross appeared to be hanging in the Heavens over Christ's head. I was taken aback by the beauty of the scene. I just had to grab a shot or two.
When I saw this, I was reminded of Matt 26 beginning in verse 38...Then he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me." And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed saying "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will but as you will." And then he went to the cross of us.
I see in this picture, Christ praying that prayer, knowing that he would soon be hanging on that cross for all mankind.
