As an annual sponsor of the 4-H gymkhana, I have the pleasure each year of watching these young cowgirls and cowboys show their skills in four speed and agility contests atop their beautiful horses. In the 'poles' event shown here, the rider must sprint their horse to the opposite end of the poles, weave through them down and back, then sprint back to the other end.
