Willow can’t be bothered to step outside her foot bath for a drink of water. Yes, that was clean yesterday, no that’s not poo on the side, just mud. Shout out to Milwaukee Tool for creating their submersible water stick pump; now I don’t have to break my back trying to dump the tank on the daily. Enjoy a little Tongue Out Tuesday! 😂

🐮One Year of Indigo Acres 🐮

🤍The People Behind the Dream🤍

As we celebrate one year since announcing the start of Indigo Acres, I've spent a lot of time reflecting on this journey and the people who helped make it possible. While the cows may be the heart of our tiny farm, the truth is that Indigo Acres was built on something much deeper; a foundation of love, encouragement, growth, faith, and support from the people who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.

At the center of that foundation is my husband, Jason Selman. Long before there was an Indigo Acres, before there were cows in the pasture and farm plans on paper, there was a man who saw potential in me that I couldn't always see in myself. He has been my partner through every season of life for almost 20 years, but one of the greatest gifts he ever gave me was encouraging me to invest in my own growth and healing. Just over four years ago, after I had completely lost myself, he pushed me to seek therapy. At the time, neither of us could have known just how much that decision would impact our lives. What started as a step toward personal healing and growth, became a journey that helped shape the person I am today. He understood that sometimes the strongest thing we can do is ask for help, and he supported me every step of the way.

For the past four years, I've had the privilege of working weekly with an incredible therapist whose partnership has had a profound impact on not only my life, but those who matter most to me. Through countless conversations, challenges, breakthroughs, tears, laughter, and moments of growth, she has helped me build confidence, work through fears, recognize my strengths, and believe that dreams worth pursuing are possible. The courage to take a leap and start Indigo Acres didn't appear overnight. It was built over years of hard work, reflection, and growth, and I am deeply grateful for her guidance along the way.

Looking back now, I realize that Indigo Acres isn't just the result of purchasing cows or building fences. It's the result of building a stronger foundation within myself. My therapist helped me do that work, and my husband encouraged me to begin it in the first place. Together, they played an enormous role in helping me become someone willing to take a chance on a dream.

And then there are our children and grandbabies. They may not realize how much their love and encouragement have meant throughout this journey. They have celebrated every success, listened to every farm story, checked in on us, and cheered us on through all the ups and downs. Their support has reminded us why we're doing this in the first place. One of my greatest joys has been creating a place where our family can gather, make memories, and experience a little piece of farm life together. Watching our grandbabies explore, learn, laugh, and enjoy the farm brings a sense of purpose that goes far beyond anything I imagined when we first started.

When people see Indigo Acres, they see the cows, the farm, and the work we've accomplished over the last year. What they don't always see are the people behind the scenes who made it possible; the husband who never stopped believing in me, the therapist who helped me discover what I was capable of, the children who encouraged me, and the grandbabies who inspire me every day.

This first year of Indigo Acres has been about so much more than farming. It has been about growth, healing, family, resilience, and learning that dreams don't happen alone. They happen because of the people who walk beside us, support us, challenge us, and love us through the process.

To my husband: thank you for believing in me when I struggled to believe in myself, for playing a pivotal role in waking my soul back up. Thank you for encouraging me to do the work, for standing beside me through every step of this journey, and for helping lay the foundation that Indigo Acres stands on today.

To my therapist: thank you for four years of partnership, guidance, and unwavering support. Your impact reaches far beyond what happens in your therapy office. It lives in the confidence, courage, and life I've built. You have helped my family and I in more ways than I can count and my gratitude will never feel like enough.

To our children and grandbabies: thank you for being our why. Thank you for allowing me to help create beautiful memories and build a legacy that will carry on for generations with you all.

Indigo Acres may have been my dream, but it became reality because of all of you. My heart is overflowing with gratitude as we celebrate this first anniversary and look forward to all that lies ahead. ❤️

And lastly, to each one of you. If it wasn’t for my guests that show up and love our cows as their own, to breathe a little lighter while here, to give yourself a moment of calm; we wouldn’t be what we are today. I’m excited and blessed to be able to carry this space with you all. 🫶🏼

And who could forget about Walter Scott?! Our youngest & smallest of the 3. Of course I had to share this picture of Wally and him so you could see the size difference. Walter is THEE most curious, he loves to chase the bunnies that get in the field, tries to convince the stray neighborhood cats that he’s friendly if they would just give him a chance, and you will find him trying to get Wally and Willow to play with him all the time. He is a fan favorite as he’s not only small but LOVES when someone takes a camera out. He loves being the hose mist and he is the first to come running when the treats come out. He’s full of s***k and has a true toddler personality.

Up next, our beautifully stunning Willow Magnolia June. She’s a true gem, the most perfect mother hen to Walter. You will often find her soaking her “feet” in her pool, following Walter like his shadow, and grazing with her bird friends. She and Wally are the best of friends and she is SO gentle and easy to work with. We got so lucky having such a calm and loving creature, she will make an amazing mama one day!

In honor of Indigo Acres turning one, let’s walk down memory lane all day with the stars of our business. Starting off with Wallace Jeffrey! This little guy isn’t so little anymore but his heart is as big as he is. He’s currently the biggest of the 3 and appears to grow 1/4” daily it seems 😂. (Shhhh, don’t tell the others, but he’s kinda my favorite.) He is the most emotional of the 3 but has also the most stubborn of the bunch. You can often find him chilling from shade to shade all afternoon, has figured out how to unchain all the gates - the reason for the bungees, and is HIGHLY food motivated!

HAPPY 1 YEAR TO Indigo Acres!!!!

What an amazing ride it has been. Just a short year ago, I announced the creation of this adventure that I’ve been manifesting and researching for years; and it’s been SO fun and rewarding. I can’t wait to see how we continue to evolve, to continue to touch peoples hearts, and to grow another year older with these beautiful souls known as The Moo Crew. Wally, Willow, and Walter; you 3 have been such a blessing to everyone that meets you. One year down, a lifetime to go. 🤍🐮
