In 2010, when I was just starting my photography business, I remember a friend asking me, “Do you want to photograph my wedding?”
I was completely taken aback. A wedding?! Me?!
She said, “Jess, you have to start somewhere.”
So on August 6, 2010, I photographed my very first wedding.
Back then, I would literally take my desktop computer to weddings, edit about 20 images throughout the day, and put together a rolling slideshow for the reception. 😂 It feels like a lifetime ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday.
In this photo, you’ll see me working away while two little girls watch over my shoulder. The little girl on the left was my friend’s daughter, and my husband is standing in the background.
But the little girl watching me edit over my shoulder?
I photographed HER wedding years later.
This memory popped up in my feed because it’s August, and I’ve probably seen this photo a dozen times over the years. But this time, I looked at it differently.
I saw the full circle.
That little girl watching me work at my very first wedding had no idea she would one day be a bride in front of my camera.
And I certainly had no idea that the little business I was just beginning would lead me here.
Sometimes you don’t realize you’re living a full-circle moment until you look back. ❤️
