SOOC Summer 2026: Cycle 1 Winners
 
Four years of straight-out-of-camera storytelling. Hundredss of submissions across 26 countries. Ten winning images. Zero edits.
 
Cycle 1 of SOOC Summer 2026 is complete, and these are the photographers whose images rose to the top. Selected by our panel of regional jurors, each frame captures the theme of LOVE in its own distinct language: a still reservoir mirroring home, a father and son walking beneath palms after prayer, kids growing into themselves, a stretch on a dune at sunset.
 
Every image was shot on a Fujifilm camera and delivered SOOC (Straight Out of Camera). Film Simulations chosen with intent, recipes dialed in-camera. No Edits. Just the photographer, the moment, and the camera.

Still Waters, Distant Peaks
 
Love isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s this quiet, this still. A city holding its breath between mountains and water, everything reflected twice as if to make sure it’s remembered.
 
This is Sairan, Almaty: a reservoir that mirrors home the way love mirrors us back to ourselves. Artur Makhmutov (f.stop.raw) found the kind of silence here that only exists when you stop trying to make the image and let the landscape hand it to you. The symmetry between sky and surface isn’t composed, it’s received.
 
Shot on the compact X-M5 with the pancake 27mm, this frame is proof that you don’t need a heavy kit to make a heavy image. CLASSIC Neg. adds a subdued, filmic weight to the palette: the muted greens, the cool water, the mountains sitting somewhere between blue and grey. No edit could improve what the simulation already delivered.

Simplicity is power, and contrast is a way of narrating your own reality 📸

Photographer Rober Tomás () takes to the streets with the Fujifilm X-E5 and ACROS+ R, working exclusively in straight-out-of-camera JPGs to capture the tonal richness and intense contrast of black and white. His recipe adds +1 to both Highlights and Shadows on the tone curve, deepening volume and giving each frame a powerful, filmic presence. Weak, Small grain and DR200 maintain detail in the blacks while letting hard light shape the scene.

ACROS+ R uses a red filter to enhance contrast and darken skies, creating an almost timeless quality where city streets become theatrical stages of light and shadow. In Rober's hands, stone textures pop, doorways become mysterious, and harsh midday sun transforms into bold compositional strokes.

No heavy post-production, no complex workflows. Frame, shoot, done. The photo arrives with character already baked in.

📸 🏃 The Run In Style Workshop with Nate Abundiente (Nate Abundiente), the creative eye behind Select Shop Frame’s signature running club visuals, was a morning well spent exploring the culture of KYN (K Y N) through storytelling, photography, and creative direction.

More than a running club, KYN is a community built on movement, connection, and shared experiences, where every stride is taken together and every finish line is just the beginning.

In collaboration with Parker’s (Parker’s), the session brought together runners and photographers to celebrate the moments, people, and energy that make this community what it is, all over a fresh brew of coffee.

From a talk on running culture and photography at Parker’s, to a sports lifestyle photo walk through the streets with KYN, to a portrait session back at Parker’s working with natural light and composition, the morning covered it all.

What happens when no one believes your pain is real?

I Told You So by Malak AlSayyad took home Best Documentary Film at the Fujifilm Short Film Festival Middle East & Africa 2025.

After years of debilitating period pain and unexplained symptoms, Malak finally gets a diagnosis: endometriosis, a chronic inflammatory disease affecting 1 in 10 women and people who menstruate worldwide. Despite being so prevalent, it has no known cause, no cure, and is routinely dismissed, even by those closest to her.

Grappling with shame, self-doubt, and a tumultuous relationship with her own body, Malak enters the world of "Endo Warriors": patients who have lost their patience. It's a deeply personal film about reclaiming your narrative when the world keeps telling you it's all in your head.

A passionate Syrian baker spends his first Eid in the US attempting to sell the sweet he's spent a lifetime perfecting: walnut baklava. As he roams the streets of Brooklyn, he crosses paths with a savvy Indian ladoo maker who's figured out how to win over New York's health-conscious crowd.

It's a warm, human story about displacement, identity, and the way food carries memory across borders, even when everything else has been left behind.
