The original was unwatchably shaky, and getting it to this state has taken 3 days. Ok so that's mostly study, and to do it again would only take an hour or so. Nevertheless it looks like the most important trick to good video is "hold the camera still". Random pan and zoom is asking for headaches....

And another. Stabilization is tricky in panned shots. Did this one by smoothing out the worst wobbles individually and leaving the rest alone. Makes it less jarring and more watcheable without changing anything really noticeable. Touch of burnout in the jellyfish, but I know how to sort that next time around. Pleasantly surprised to find the G15 will do exposure locking for video and a very effective version of back-button focus. Next dive I will be aiming for no burnout, no focus hunting and a bit less wobble...

Experimenting more with videos. This one was processed using blender, a pretty amazing piece of open-source software. Took a bit to set it up, it's a geek tool with minimal of the usual polish found in consumer s/w. But fast easy and stable once the headscratching phase is over. And doesn't hide any of the details. Learnt more setting this up than in years of blundering about in various apple video offerings. (https://www.blender.org/)

Cuttlefish changing colours. It looks a little like the sunlight being diffracted by the waves, but its actually the cuttlefish changing it's skin colour, probably in an attempt to confuse me enough for it to escape... Thanks to Snai for spotting this

Last dive my shutter button stuck. It was a build up of salt in one of the inaccessible crevices of the housing. Had to dismantle the control to clean it out. Intimidating, but successful. We're back in business...

Lots of fun shooting these. Notice:
1) Traditional farmworker clothes, but they are made of silk.
2) It's fake silk.
3) The model had never been in a paddy-field before and was a bit freaked out by the mud.
4) Despite my best efforts, the traditional Vietnamese lampshade crept into a few shots. It has "Tourist" in Vietnamese embroidered on it.
