Pine & Ivory

Pine & Ivory Victorian intimate wedding photographer specialising in intimate weddings, elopements and giving traditions the flick.

A Wedding, Elopement & Couples Photographer based in Northern Victoria. Gosh, it's so odd trying to speak in third-person... About myself...

I'm always up for travel and document weddings all over regional Victoria from down in Wilson Prom through to the Grampians and everything in between. My speciality is crafting beautiful imagery that looks and feels genuine and a true reflection of who you

are - so no awkward stuff. I also tend to incorporate my love-affair with Victoria's gorgeous landscape in any way I can which is why I get so excited about outdoor weddings! I only take on a limited number of weddings per year so I can balance being a father & a husband but also give my couples the attention they deserve. Do I really need an engagement session?

This is asked weekly in Wedding Facebook groups - the super short answer is no, you don’t… but you probably should.
I believe in engagement sessions so much that I include them in every single package (I call them Adventure sessions), they're complimentary so there's obviously no charge and when people try to wriggle out of them I try my hardest to bring to light how important they are in ironing out the majority if not ALL the awkardwarness of having someone (essentially a stranger) point a camera at you all day at your Wedding.

I could talk your ear off about them, but instead, I'll pop some pros for them in a list.
+ You hang out with your wedding/elopement photographer before your wedding day and find out how they work and how you interact with them
+ Your photographer learns more about you and can find out details that can come into play on your Wedding day
+ It builds trust, you receive your images back before your Wedding and can see what the end results can look like
+ You learn about "posing" or "prompts" and what feels natural and what doesn't and your photographer learns where the boundaries are for what you two like doing/not doing.
+ in the case for my adventure sessions, they’re a way to get outside and explore places all around this gorgeous country, to places you’ve always wanted to or that could even be special to you.
Side note, aren’t these two just the cutest! 😍

I think it was beyond perfect to end the busiest season I’ve ever had in 8 years photographing with the wedding of Amy & Phil - These two have been recommending me to couples for years, honestly the biggest supporters I’ve ever had and it was an absolute pleasure seeing these two incredible and beautiful souls get married ❤️

Dale & Sarah, two incredibly kind, fun and amazing humans who can light up room (or gazebo 🤣) with their infectious smiles! I don't know how we did it, but we totally dodged the torrential rain on Saturday, got some gorgeous sun for golden hour and by the end of the night, the skies cleared up for a cheeky astro shot 🌌 (always my favourite way to finish a wedding) - I'll post that later.
For now, just enjoy these two loves.

"What happens if it rains?" - The question that every "questions to ask your photographer" article from a wedding blog includes for whatever reason.. it's an odd question, because really, its somehow expecting you to be able give an answer akin to "well obviously I'll change the weather - because I can control it.", Where in reality you can't.

So what I say, and just like on Saturday with Monica & Chris at Swallowfields is, we'll make the most of it!

The reward here was dancing in the rain while horses were twirling behind us without a care in the world because it didn't matter that it was raining. You can still get amazing imagery rain, hail or shine and it's not something you can control but it is something you can make the most out of.

She said yes!!! (At a cool 1,167m of elevation)

Oh my gosh was this an adrenaline rush, I'm almost certain I was more nervous than Ronan was on Sunday.

Two weeks prior, I answer the call to a nervous sounding Ronan, he called me to say he was ready to ask "the question" to his beloved Riona.

Both coming from Ireland, Ronan wanted something that really captured the Australian landscape as a part of their story... So uh.. of course I recommend Mt Duwil!!

After a few phone calls and going through every detail we could, we hatched a plan to have them hike up Mt William and catch sunset, Ronan's nerves were thrown away and he was as cool as a cucumber.

Me on the other hand, I was sweating bullets - You can't exactly ask someone if they can "propose again" because I missed a shot. I got to the summit super early, enough to pace back and fourth a million times until I spotted them at the summit. Making some small talk as I normally do to people I come across, I casually suggest the best spot to watch the sun drop behind the peaks of the Grampians National Park (all a part of the plan haha). So while they got into position, I had the camera at the ready and the rest... Is in the photos!

Gosh it was a beautiful moment, I got a little teary myself lol 😂
So real question, who remembers what there partner said during your proposal?

My first Full-Day wedding back since the beginning of the year and it was an incredible day. I'm not going to lie, I was absolutely cooked yesterday even the all day ride down and up Lake Mountain paled in comparison - the adrenaline keeps you running all day but it eventually catches up 😂.

The real thing to focus on here, is just how in LOVE .berry.2 and are! You can tell Matt's got a giant cheese going but the look on Laura's face is more telling than anything. Seriously contenders for the nicest people on the planet and it was an absolute pleasure to document their wedding ❤️ congratulations again you two!

Hello 2020!
Hello you beautiful people!
It's been a long while since I've posted but it felt good not stressing over what caption to write, what content to share or even just scrolling and seeing all my peers, fellow photographers and dive down the whole of comparison.
A lot has happened, Elliott is crawling, sitting on his own and climbing (oh gosh, it's crazy) I've shot adventure, & maternity sessions and have filled out some dates towards the end of the year.

I do have a buttload of galleries to deliver and emails to get through, but I'm super excited to get right back into mid season for 2020 ❤️🥳 Also - so freaking excited for these two to become parents!! .styling and were my first couple to have an adventure session all those years ago - gosh time flies 😂

Ellen & Michael had their dream wedding over the weekend which involved 500 acres of Ballarat country, personal vows, suprise singing, gazebos, a getaway Ute, cows, delicious pizza and good vibes but the dream part for them and the greatest gift they wanted, was to have all of their closest friends and family present, to celebrate their love and to come together and join them on this incredible journey forward. ❤️

Recently I watched an IGTV video by the extremely talented about cropping images - It totally sounds mundane, who the heck watches a video on cropping?!?! haha, but it's actually amazing how something so simple can completely change the way an image feels and connects with you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'll throw the original up in my stories so you can see for yourself.
