Warmth and light. I can feel it slipping away as I notice more leaves on the lawn each day. Usually I am happy to kick summer out and usher fall in, but this year I feel a real loss about summer’s departure. Maybe I print and hang these foxgloves to carry me through to June.

7 + 6 = 13, which means today is Rupert’s 13th Birthday! We celebrated with banana pudding. Twelve years ago today, this one-year-old foster pug entered my life, and it took only a week for me to realize he was going nowhere. I will never forget seeing Rupert for the first time. It wasn’t like the first time, but more like, “hey, where have you been.” It was like we always knew each other. He responded to his name instantly, and learned to sit, stay, and lay down within 20 minutes. Rollover came within a day. Rupert, I love, Love, LOVE YOU!
