Name: Kapunda Aurora

Over looking the quiet country town of Kapunda in South Australia, the aurora dances in all it's beauty.

What a great sight to see! This is why I love capturing photos of the night sky!

Captured some time ago during an Aurora in South Australia, it's taken me until now to decide if I share it due to the events that have happened with people stealing my work and the over exposure on the right hand side of the image.

Still it makes for a nice photograph.

Going forward I've decided that my photos will be shared in a different format, through video.

Hi everyone,

I just want to start off by saying that I'm starting to be put off by sharing my photographic work and continuing on Facebook and Instagram due to how easy it is for someone to put a claim against one of your images and say it's theirs and that I'm copywriting them.

I've had news channels on tv use my videos for their segments without asking my permission, a photo has been used for comparisons and now someone is randomly finding my photos and saying they are the original owner of the image and that I've had to lodge a dispute.

I'm a little shocked and burnt out by all this and I'm currently unsure if I'll continue to share my photographic images on these platforms..... Maybe I just have too many emotions going on right now to think clearly.

Thank you to everyone who has been genuine, supportive and has followed my work throughout the years with what I'm passionate about doing... photographing the night sky!

Those stormy nights, a while ago I was able to rush out to West Beach hoping the storm would come right over me. However this particular storm didn't want to play nice and instead is turned and headed down the gulf.
I had a image in my mind I wanted to capture and this was it, something simple, minimal and captivating.
What do you think?

The Pillars of Creation

A prominent feature within M16 The Eagle Nebula, the star forming region is located approximately 6500 light years from Earth.

I've captured this image in narrowband - Oxygen III, Hydrogen Alpha and Sulfur II using Baader 6nm filters in front of a ToupTek 585M monochrome camera connected to a Sky-Watcher 300PDS Newtonian Telescope.

Processing this image was a new challenge for me as I wanted to process it in the Hubble Space Telescope palette which produces a beautiful array of colors.

I am looking forward to shooting more deep space images and processing them in this way.

The Pillars of Creation

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to photograph space, I’m excited that things are starting to settle down in my busy life and I’m able to start producing images again with a second telescope setup.

I’ve captured this image in narrowband data, hydrogen alpha, Sulfur and oxygen with my new telescope. I’ve then assigned those channels to create the Hubble space telescope palette.

I do plan on adding more data to this image and improve upon it but I’m just happy to be imaging again.

Enjoy

Vela Nebula - Full of beautiful Hydrogen Alpha and Oxygen tangled together. This is the only image I've ever taken of this region, it's meant to be a large mosaic that I haven't been able to start.... but I will one day.

I've been working on a new technique to merge my Ha and OIII data with my LRGB data that compliments and doesn't overpower the LRGB data.

I hope your all having a great week!

Isn't it amazing how beautiful our night sky is!

IC 434 The Red Horsehead Nebula, once again going through old data shot on a one shot colour camera the QHY 294MC Pro coupled to my Celestron RASA 8.

I wonder what data I will find next to play around with?
