There is something that I’ve always loved about places that have layers of mountains and seeing them at sunset/sunrise. Fun side note, I even painted a wall on my daughter’s first room like that.

I have some vision (or maybe I saw someone else’s image) in my head of my dream shot of one of those locations. I haven’t found it just yet but this is the closest image I’ve taken of the concept yet. I think I’m just looking for more layers of mountains together and probably more peaks and valleys. The search will continue but until then here’s one really close to home.

When you look back to make sure they are watching what you think is your best angle.

Let’s hope this is good luck for some more chances to see some bears and have some photo opportunities.

There are certainly faster camera bodies out there now than what I’m shooting. It has almost been 9 years since it was first released. However, I’m still really happy with it and happy with the sequence I got. It might’ve missed a shot here or there during this flight but that’s probably more my fault than anything.

I need to go check on this den and see if it’s active this year. I really hope that it is but I haven’t checked on it yet.

What baby animals are you looking for this spring?

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of sunsets like this one. It certainly helps that it’s in a beautiful location. I need to get out and shoot some landscapes again, it’s been too long.

First shot is the IG cropped version. It looks so much better than with the borders but doesn’t show the full image. The second image is the full shot but with borders. It’s unfortunate that IG still forces you into this but this is still the best work around I’ve found.

It was a good year for barn owls. Finally got some images I’ve wanted for a while now.

We could all use a wingman.

I didn’t get to photograph too many bald eagles this winter season unfortunately. I was pretty happy at this chance at these juvenile bald eagles flying together. It would’ve been nicer if the background was snowy like it should’ve been but this year was a weird year for snow here.

With the kids on spring break this week my mind my mind is somewhere else and not here at my work desk.. Wish I was on vacation somewhere instead.

I love the different textures that Hawaii provides, it’s pretty awesome. This trip was really the first time I experimented much with long exposures and the ocean. It was a lot of fun and certainly won’t be the last time.

It’s just about baby animal season! Here’s to hoping this den has some more kits this year. I only got a short chance to see them last year. If I remember correctly there was at least 6 in there.

The first shot where the fox looks up is when a plane was flying over and was almost as if it was watching that. I thought that was funny.

There is just something about watching waves from above roll in that’s so peaceful to me. I’m not sure exactly what it is, maybe it’s the textures it creates, or something else. But there is something about it that I really enjoy and I typically find myself looking for it when possible.

So enjoy a brief bit of calmness to get you through the day.
