There are so many blissful moments in motherhood. So very many. But also many difficult ones. And we need to talk about those.

Those moments when you feel like you just don't have it in you. The moments where you miss your old life and all of the freedom you had. The ones when you feel like you're not doing a good enough job because the job is impossible. The ones where you look in the mirror, hair a mess, and wonder if you'll ever feel like you used to. The moments when you miss your old self.

It's hard, and it's okay that it's hard. It's okay to feel all these things and also feel so much love it overtakes you.

Okay I'm going to get a little personal here.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Eleven years ago when I started doing photography, I worked for a catering staffing agency to pay the bills. I worked at places all over Toronto, but I was often at the Shangri-La. I would serve food to wedding guests for $15 an hour, and have my eyes on the photographers the whole time. They were soooooo lucky to get to shoot at such an elite venue. I could only ever dream to be like them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, every time I'm in this beautiful room, I'm reminded of how far I've come. Dreams are possible. And I'm inspired to show other new photographers - yes, YOU - that you can get to where you want to be too.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So wherever you are in your journey, pause to look back. You've already made it so far, and there's no telling how far you can go.

I am so fortunate to have built such a wonderful team over the years. This wedding, shot so beautifully by Lesley and Ally May is proof of how incredibly talented they are. Ladies, thank you for allowing me to have the confidence you take every bit the amount of care with my couples that I would.
