Read this quote last week and it really stuck with me. I don’t know about you but I’ve been flipping between feeling really sad about this broken world and feeling rejuvenated by spring. The change in seasons and the more time I’ve been spending outdoors have been essential for balancing all the feelings. I hope you are all finding ways to bring a little happiness into your days.

Hi! Hello! 👋
It’s been a while since I’ve shared anything on this account but here we are, 2 years later and living life with a wild, amazing little toddler who now goes to daycare a few days a week.

I was waiting for the perfect post to get back into things but the perfect post doesn’t exist, does it? Instead, I’m sharing this favourite photo from a sign painting meetup a few years back to say hello again.

I’m looking forward to sharing more on here and getting back into creative projects. It’s been a crazy 2 years but the warm weather this week just has a way of making life seem a little brighter.

Did you know that lack of sleep can cause sugar cravings? I think a lot of new moms can relate. Maybe because we want that extra boost of energy that sugar gives you or because we just want something comforting after a rough night. Our little Elliott is 3 months old and we’re just starting to get into a rhythm. On the milder days when we venture out, I’m always craving a warm beverage on the sweeter side. My current favourites are the Nutella latte , the caramel latte , the dulce latte .ca and the Nutella latte .

A table setting from a wedding I worked on last summer. It’s always so nice to see the things I make come together for someone’s special day. For this wedding, I worked on the invitations, menu, name cards, photo booth backdrop, thank you cards, a design for the bow ties for the groomsmen, paper napkins and I’m sure I’m forgetting a few things!

Yesterday with Retailles: atelier de papier making paper from fabric scraps! I love paper but I love it even more when it’s made from linen and cotton scraps from local fashion designers. Sophie is so passionate about what she does and the connections she makes with other creatives that i can’t imagine anyone leaving her studio uninspired. ✨ In a few days I’ll be able to pick up my papers and see the results of my experiments and see how my new paper works with ink, paint and watercolour.

I feel very late to the game but we just watched the RBG documentary (US supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg). I really enjoyed it but no surprise there, and the way she approached challenges and conflict was especially interesting to me. I think this quote of hers sums it up so well.

About 7 years ago, I stared working on this collage project in one of classes. I finally finished up the last few pieces yesterday, no clue why it took me so long.
Jen had us pick a photo of one of the emotional faces from the participants in a MoMA performance. We then made a collage with used scraps from the art studio. Swipe over to see the photo I chose. A little bit about the original performance piece: In 2010 at MoMA, Abramović engaged in an extended performance called, The Artist Is Present. Seated silently at a wooden table across from an empty chair, she waited as people took turns sitting in the chair and locking eyes with her. Over the course of nearly three months, for eight hours a day, she met the gaze of 1,000 strangers, many of whom were moved to tears. @ Montreal, Quebec

Oh what a week it’s been! I traveled over to Hamilton, Ontario last week to join a 4 day sign painting workshop by Mike Meyer. The days passed so fast, It was bittersweet to head back to real life yesterday. I’m so happy to be home though and I’ve brought with me a ton of knowledge and some motivation which had been sorely lacking lately. And a big thank you to Jentine for being a great host and friend and for having these photogenic floors.

Hi 👋. Ive been quiet on this account for the past month. I took a little trip somewhere warm. Ive been working on a large layout project that should be finishing up soon. 🤞And generally just feeling unmotivated to just make things in my spare time. I blame the weather (the snow won’t end!) that’s just not letting me feel excited and energized by spring! But spring will come, it’s inevitable. And hopefully it will bring along motivation to pick up my art supplies more often. happy hump day!
