Food, particularly fruit & vegetables, might be my favorite material to work with. It’s nature, but many people don’t experience it as such every day. The relationship we have with food is so intimate from our literal birth. It’s playful from the start, but we get more serious in everything as we learn what is “acceptable.” The lesson and the message is always play, play, play; joy, joy, joy - with your food and in your life. 🩵🌀

A tiny sliver of bioluminescence, and other wonders.

This island is often described as other-worldly, and it is. I do find it helpful to remember that it is actually from this one, this world.

Sitting among the trees, a few of our guides asked why we came. We pointed at the landscape. Their response was wow, really? All this way for these trees? Not in a shocked way, but just like huh, cool.

Two reflections: first, the obvious. How incredible is it that these things exist? Yes, amazing, yay. But go one level deeper - how lucky would you be to find yourself living in such close proximity to something, to get so accustomed to something that someone else would travel across the world for? Consider that we all do.

Sometimes I get so sucked into my routine and I forget. I forget to see the world with new eyes. All it takes is a little more intention, a little more childlike wonder, maybe a little more mischief, and a willingness to expand. 💓
