PARENTING 441
Here goes nothing
Because out of the nothingness, all that we see, touch, hear and smell (the material world) was born.
I am 33 years old, turning 34 years old this coming May 2024. And all I write or seek to write is from my OWN experiences of Truth and what it looks like to me.
My daughter, Bophelo, is 5 years old, going for 6 years old this December 2024. The journey thus far is beautiful and I am loving the experiences. What I wish to share is from my today's experience while doing laundry. We call laundry a chore...but what is a chore?what does an act of doing a chore involve?do we NEED to do chores or they are just 'Wants'?Do I need to wash my dishes because I need neatness or do I want to wash my dishes after eating or do I JUST HAVE TO?
I know based on growing up as a boy in this 'SatAfrika' that men's behaviour towards "chores" was mainly taught/installed on the man's psychy rather than it just being a product of 'mere choice'. Men were taught that it's a woman's job to clean the house, it's the woman's job to cook, it is a woman's job to wash the dishes, it is a woman's job to 'raise and take care of the children'. As a result we have grown up babies walking around throwing tantrums and leaving like pigs whom despite all the christianizing that's been done to them fail to understand and apply the wisdom contained in this universal statement 'cleandiness is next to Godliness'.
I enjoy doing laundry, washing dishes, cooking, fathering/parenting, etc. (pay attention to my relegation of parenting to a category of a chore, because it is not by chance or error that I did). Parenting as a result of the conditioning of black people by White's has been relegated to being a 'chore', not a responsibility and it has lost the honour associated with parenting.
I love my daughter, it has been an honour and privilege to be trusted with being a guardian to such as spirit in this physical realm. And doing her laundry and other so called 'chores' for and on behalf of her, teaching and sharing my experiences of life with her, is something beyond my wildest dreams.
I always wondered how it would feel to 'wear the title FATHER', how it would be and how 'my child's would receive my fathering. Having to experience Bophelo's smile, laughter, warm hugs, spiritual teachings, and her healing powers is the closest to Nature's majesty (Godliness) I'll probably ever reach.
So my family, the alchemic-secret I wish to share with you is hidden in little to insignificant activities like doing 'chores', there you get to meet yourself, your True Self and clearly hear the sweet whispers of Nature's infinite beauty and intelligence.
