CAMDEBOO NATIONAL PARK: Home to the world-renowned Valley of Desolation, this national scenic monument’s 120m high cliffs and the magnificent views it offers is a must visit destination for anyone visiting Graaff-Reinet at the heart of the Karoo in the Eastern Cape.

A GIANT KINGFISHER (Megaceryle maximus) photographed on the Chobe River near Impalila Island - it was the only Giant Kingfisher we saw while there, but he did pose quite beautifully for us.

A WOODLAND KINGFISHER (Halcyon senegalensis) photographed outside Maun in the Okavango - such a beautiful bird with one of the most beautiful calls of all birds.

Bird Island - Lambert's Bay ..........Just two hours and a bit north of Cape Town it is one of South Africa's West Coast gems, and time spent on the island is a special experience.

Time to talk a little bit more about the magic of Pater Noster - one of South Africa's West Coast gems - a fishing village a little way north of Cape Town - unquestionably the most attractive coastal town in the country, boasting great seafood and other restaurants as also a whole host of B&B's for the visitor.

MEL BOTES - GUITAR HEROES

Pure guitar magic and some really soulful singing by Mel Botes at The Stage in Bathurst on Monday evening, 23rd September. An evening to remember in so many ways with this amazingly rounded artist who called back the golden age of rock ’n roll and blues music with some impeccable riffs lifted from many of the worlds most talented guitar artists - along with a few excellent originals. Hopefully he will be back sooner rather than later.
