Every now and then, you meet someone whose journey inspires you deeply.
Having the privilege of capturing Leevona’s portraits was one of those moments for me. Seeing her story recently shared on the My City Bloemfontein’s page, celebrating her new album release, reminded me just how far passion and hard work can take us. 🌟
Leevona, your courage to chase your dreams and share your talent with the world is truly inspiring. I’m so proud to have been a small part of your journey, and I cannot wait to see where this path takes you. 🎶💫
This session was also a reminder to myself of how far I’ve come in my own photography journey. What once started as a dream has grown into a passion that allows me to capture incredible people and moments like this. 📸✨
Here’s to chasing dreams, supporting one another, and celebrating every milestone along the way. 🌸
The 30-year-old Afrikaans singer Leevona opens her heart once more with the release of her second single, "Vier Seisoene Tuis" [Four Seasons at Home] – an honest, image-rich love song that invites listeners to join her on the journey of true love. The song is available from the 5th of of September on all digital music platforms.
What makes this song especially significant is that it is Leevona’s first original piece from her own pen. Following her 2021 debut - this brand new single emerges from a place of reflection, growth, and hope. It tells the story of love that blossoms, matures, and comes home – with the symbolism of the four seasons serving as a quiet backdrop to a very tangible, human experience.
“I probably started writing this song a year ago. I carried the idea – four seasons as a metaphor for love – but then I set it aside. Only recently did I realise it was time. I had to understand the song myself before I could share it,” she explains.
The track was produced by André de Jager, a musician Leevona has worked with for many years.
“...'Oom' André and I have walked a long road together. He doesn’t just understand how I sing – he understands who I am. And you can hear it.” Musically, "Vier Seisoene Tuis" is Afrikaans pop with a strong country influence – a style that's been close to Leevona’s heart since childhood. “I loved country music when I was still at school, back when it wasn’t cool at all. People laughed at me for it. Now it’s everywhere, but for me it has always felt like home.”
With guitar work that is warm and full of feeling, the song brings a nostalgic yet fresh sound to the Afrikaans music landscape. For Leevona, September is a month of new life and awakening dreams. “I don’t like winter – as soon as it’s the 1st of September, I put on sandals, no matter how cold my toes get,” she laughs. The release date is therefore no coincidence – it symbolises hope, light, and forward movement for her.
"Vier Seisoene Tuis" was written for everyone who still believes in love – whether newly in love or years into a journey together - it is for those who know that love sometimes grows quietly, sometimes storms wildly, but always remains a place where you come home again. “I hope someone hears it and says: ‘I see something in her.’ Every artist dreams of someone truly noticing them. This song is my cry: Here I am.”
With a love for metaphors and imagery, Leevona writes music that tells stories and paints pictures. Her dream is not only to write songs but to touch people’s hearts, one verse at a time. “I dream big. I dream of stage lights, audiences, and names like Krone and Afrikaans is Groot. And I believe people are allowed to dream big. You just have to start talking, and start singing.”
